It's about equal. For years, I've rated Alex Semin as having the best wrist shot in the league and the most technically skilled in the league. Good case can be made for Malkin as well. But it's closer than people give it credit for to be honest...Semin is a whale of a player.

If Malkin continues to play the way he has, he's definitely going to have that said about him.

Sad part is Malkin is the only one who can make Malkin play better. He needs to step it up.

Staal hid behind Sid and Geno He never had the role to play as a real offensive player on a nightly basis. Has no skills as a playmaker and is marginal as a goal scorer. He is the best 3rd line center in the NHL but his role now is to score and that ain't gonna happen. I hope he enjoys playing with Eric cause that is going to be his life's calling. Hands of STONE

I think Malkin would respond better to a different approach from the coaching staff, but for the most part Malkin makes Malkin play better. He seems like he'd respond well to being pushed harder, but none of us have the real inside knowledge on his style to really see that.

When you look at the standings on tsn for instance, isn't it necessary to view division standings over conference?

The top three from eaxh division make and then there are two wild cards.

So as it stands now Detroit and Montreal would be the wild cards and the pens canes and isles would make it from our division.

Not sure why you'd ever want to look at conference standings.

Pens will likely play the Atlantic wildcard (Montreal? Ottawa? Detroit?) in the first round. Better be ready.

*I'm assuming that the #5 wildcard gets the #4 slot in the other divisional playoffs, even if they have more points than the #3 slot in that division?
