What's hilarious is that the Canes' feed had Jordan Staal mic'd tonight and were pumping how they were going to hear what he says on the ice all night.

They showed ONE clip of him cheering after the fight in the first.

Super.

Another great game by Fleury. What a year he's having so far.

cbc.ca listed Fleury as the top contender for goal for canada. I couldn't quite believe my eyes... but if he keeps this up, he might just get a nod.

You mean we win if we don't give up 3 goals in the 3rd period?

Great 3rd period... shutdown the canes lunchpail style. Played a patient game with the lead and got rewarded for it.

There was a little bit more during the intermission, but not much as Jordan doesn't really talk on the rink that much. Then he lost the microphone before the first was over.

It's nice that it looks like he'll be able to carry the load in the regular season again. But we all know when the real test starts.

He's never had real problems in the regular season, his struggles have been in the pressure-packed playoff environment. If I was Canadian, I don't think I would feel comfortable naming him my starter based on his regular season play. There is still no evidence in the past 3 years that he's capable of performing under that pressure.

I have no problems with him being the Pens goalie but I think there are slightly more reliable options out there for Team Canada.

I don't even want to imagine the impact Fleury's shattered psyche could have on the Pens' record going down the stretch, if he lost that game.

And I had no problem with your call tonight, Staggy. Thought for sure you were going to show that picture of all the Sutter's and start talking about how they all look alike and play alike-yadayada- but you showed admirable restraint.

It's beautiful watching Staal in a top 6 role for another team. I miss him on our 3rd line, but man I wouldn't want him centering a top 2 line unless there was a true star to carry the line. He just doesn't have it.

That will be the "meaningful" game meltdown that does him in for good, and we can rely on Z and a rusty Vokoun down the stretch/playoffs.

Man... was i ever wrong about Jordan Staal. I thought for sure that once he got a top-6 role, he would blossom into a star in this league. He's not done anything with better linemates and has totally disappeared this year so far. 3 points in 11 games. 1 Goal. All that for 60 million dollars. Christ...

The Carolina color guy also said that Semin had more natural talent than Malkin. I laughed.
