Yea but Skinner was a 7th overall pick. Marc Staal was a 12th overall pick. The Rangers will need to offer at least 5 more people to make up the difference in draft spots.
No, no, no, the Rangers traded down to get Staal. So therefore if you triangulate that value over twice the diameter juxtaposed to the league climate, all the Rangers would need is to add one assistant coach and three donkeys to facilitate an even trade.
Source: Naslund for Stojanov. Where we traded one player for one donkey.
All I said was that it would have been nice to get Skinner. You and others made a big deal about it, and I merely said that it showed that Staal wasn't as valued as others on the board said he was.
It also would have been nice to get Brenden Dillon for Dustin Jeffrey. Jeffrey was a sixth round pick and Dillon was undrafted...I guess Jeffrey wasn't as valuable as some others thought he was...many thought he could fetch at least a Mark Letestu-like return, but as we saw, he couldn't even net an undrafted player.
But yeah, you're right, it would have been nice to get another club's best young player in exchange for our free agent to be...that is true. Back on earth, it didn't happen that way AND we still did very well with the trade despite not necessarily eviscerating a franchise...
I don't know who Gus Fieri is or what his double D's have to do with this...
