I know, it didn't take me long to think he had NO business in the NHL. More than pleasantly surprised.

Is it too much to ask for us to continue playing a simple, gritty game like this once we are healthy? Sure would be nice.

I'm seriously wondering if Pens should trade a vet on D. Maatta and Bort deserve to stay. I'd like to keep Despres around.

I know its pretty en vogue to dislike Kris Letang right now, but I would like to see the Pens trade him and get a huge return on several young O guys.

Don't ask me, I'm not naming any names lol. I don't even know where to begin. I wanted to trade Niskanen really bad, but seeing how he's played the last 2 weeks... crap, is he more reliable than Letang all of a sudden? He's not half as skilled, but... I just don't know. I would just like to get Maatta and Bort good playing time and I'd like to keep Despres around. They better put Engo back on wing.

The trade letang window has passed. I know there is technically nothing stopping them, but Shero isnt going to throw away the great reputation that he has with players by doing that.

Letang has looked anything but essential this year.
Yoi. Hopefully that all changes.

I don't question his talent, it just seems that the Pens no longer need him. Niskanen is better than anyone ever imagined and while he struggled in Dallas he's done very well here. I would go as far as saying that that trade is the antithesis of the Naslund one.

Rather get evader Kane + enstrom/bogo and a decent pick for letang and Bennett. We don't need yak his softness and inconsistent scoring adds nothing to this team. Ditto eberle, though he's more proven and decent defensively.

He's pretty much the same player he was with the Pens- you think he could be a superstar if he ever put it all together, but you don't think he'll ever put it all together.

I said it before and I will say it again, J Staal was effective because he was hidden behind Sid and Geno. He was best suited for a role that he played here. But he is not a great passer or playmaker and NEVER will be. He is not a goal scorer either. He is one of those guys who is best suited for a defensive role. Carolina got snookered in that deal. A number 1 or 2 center he will never be. Don't get me wrong, I liked Staal in the role he had here but not in the role he has now.

I knew Maatta was good when the Pens drafted him but i never envisioned this. Or at least this good, this early. I remember draft day when the Pens made the trade that sent Jordan Staal to Carolina and figured they were going to draft Filip Forsberg or Maatta with the 8th overall pick. I was shocked they picked Derrick Pouliot. Never imagined Maatta would be there at 22nd overall, but there he was when the time came. Pouliot isn't even here yet and some scouts say he's got more upside than Maatta. Just incredible.

Watching the London Knights last year whenever they were on the NHL Network was interesting. Maatta was paired with Harrington and they were very good. But still, this is just another level. Great job Olli!

Yea J staal is having a rough time in Carolina. Only 45 pts, -16, about 2 shots per game in 72 games for the canes. He's not a top 2 center. Still sad Shero took him over toews backstrom and kessel. I guess it all worked out though

Once again, Vitale was an unsung hero for the Pens, picking up another assist and winning all of his faceoffs. Sill and Z turned in a solid effort as well. On the flipside, Kobasew may be playing his way off the team; he was on the ice for both goals against despite playing the least minutes of any player.
