And I never knew he played this guy later in life, until my wife told me.

Humperdink, if you liked Slapshot you would love the movie "Goon".

Re: Slapshot. My stepson played youth hockey in western NY State. In a weekend tournament, a visiting team from the Johnstown area was one of the opponents. Who was in the lobby of the rink but none other than one of the Hanson brothers (Steve Carlson) from the movie. He had a son playing in the tourny. Autographed a puck for me which I treasure to this day.

PS: I should add he spent the weekend signing autographs, which was a bit easier since the aluminum foil had been removed from his hands.

FWIW, Rossi was on WPXI tonight and said Letang is most likely done for the year.

What's kind of surprising is the lack of thread title change on something that has not been a mystery for quite some time...

Cap Geek doesn't have him on LTIR:

So that deadline space would really go up. (??)

You don't change the name of a classic... It would be like changing the name of the movie "Jaws" to "big mouth shark".

Having never seen the movie Princess Bride, let me apologize for misreading your comment. From all the comments, it must rank up there with Slapshot.

S'all good homie!

Personally I think Princess Bride is one of the greatest films ever made. I can watch it anytime, it's good for all ages, and its quotable to the Nth degree.

I don't think the Pens have placed him on LTIR yet. But yes, the available cap space will definitional increase (I don't know about "really" go up though) and I expect Shero to take full advantage of it. I wonder if Despres finally gets to stay now.

Should be a good opportunity for Despres. I'd imagine he'll rotate with Bortuzzo depending on the matchup.

Despres is killing it down in WBS. Leads the team in +/-, scoring at almost 3/4 ppg, all at ES.

I think he will be delt, just get the feeling Dan or Ray just doesn't like something about him.

Exactly. That's also why the Flyers can never win a Cup ... evil can never win out.

They'd be crazy to deal him with the uncertainty around Letang. Plus he'll be Niskanen's replacement next season. Don't see him getting moved at all.

Does ulfie's kid have any trade value, because I could seem him being offered up.

Even if the Pens were slightly considering trading Letang, that cannot happen now. So, I think it does affect the ability to move a guy like Despres, they may need him long term with the questions regarding Letang. this is a huge loss from a player and depth perspective. The whole unknown prevents a risky move from being made. IMO

Niskanen is not going anywhere and neither is Despres with Letang being out. You basically have the 1st round draft pick and some B/C level prospects to move at the deadline. It's going to be hard for Shero to get both a top six guy for Crosby and a third line guy, with the assets he would consider moving at this point in time.

With hindsight, wouldn't it be more accurate to say...please don't do anything Shero?
