Wow, why so much posturing by everyone recently? "I played more goalie than you" "Oh yeah, well I can accurately describe every teams system!" "So what, I own more Pens related cereal boxes than anyone!". Can people not share an opinion without a bout of self-edification anymore?! I've avoided posting for a while as everyone seems to be in some sort of frenzy, perhaps caused by a mixture of playoff anxiety/hope, Bylsmagic, and unwavering faith/expectations of failure in the team...
@Nizzy - I agree with most of your points, I think many on here do to some extent but as per usual your 'enthusiastic' manner of posting encourages certain people to jump on your back. I find your posts far more opinion driven than a boatload of the guys here who contribute nothing to the topic of discussion. Keep on trucking, I may not always be in the same convoy but I'll beep my horn as we pass!
@Jesse - You are undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable posters on here with regards to hockey and I love to read your posts, however I don't think it's fair to suggest someone has no idea what they are talking about just because they can't explain the X's and O's in a professional way. If my car broke down I could sit there and say "my car has broken down", but I wouldn't be able to tell you why as I'm not a mechanic.
- The glory of reaching the ECF with arguably the best roster we are likely to see in the cap era is undermined by the 'humiliation' of being swept. And to be honest just getting there made for extremely uncomfortable viewing.
- HCDB's systems aren't 'stupid', they can be highly effective. Problems seem to have arisen when other teams (usually the same ones, often in the playoffs) manage to frustrate 'even the best laid plans'.
- The transition from the cup winning team to the current team seems to have created a disconnect between the skillset of the roster players and the system employed - a kind of team identity crises.
Is anyone else hoping for the best but expecting the worst?
