crosby just may be

Postby bdevido on Sun May 11, 2014 3:33 pm

one of those players who doesn't show up in the clutch. he is hurting us and not helping us in any way, shape or form and all excuses have to be out the window at this point its the playoffs. bortuzzo's pass was 10 times more impressive than sid's goal he hit him in stride. my point is, crosby SHOULD make that goal. i'm just fed up enough is enough crosby has been entirely pathetic.

Crosby hasn't had his best stretch, I think that's quite obvious, but clutch is almost always small sample size. If Crosby randomly hit a rut in November, it'd be no big deal... because he randomly hit one now he's "not clutch".

Let's look at a large sample size. (I'm throwing out Barry Pederson because of so few GP)

Career playoff PPG Leaders
http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/records/ ... aders.html

1. Gretzky
2. Lemieux
3. Messier
4. Orr
5. Bossy
6. Crosby
7. Malkin

Now, he's VERY close to Bossy, Orr, and Messier.. so once you throw in the GPG in different eras, he's easily 3rd.. behind Gretzky and Lemieux.

So 3rd most offensively productive post-season player. Yea, he can't play when it counts..

everyone seems so concerned as to which team we play next round but mark my words. if #87 doesn't start scoring goals we won't beat anyone, anywhere, at anytime. this slump, rut or whatever you want to call it has gone on long enough.

What a new and compelling view of the teams issues this is.

I doubt the Pens will win 1 of the next 2.

If this was the only year the Pens made the playoffs since he was drafted, you might have evidence on your side. He has struggled this year, but you can find tons of evidence to the contrary on the Youtubes.

Well we sure won't get by Columbus in the first round.

Yea, if only we had Toews, he's so clutch, he'd never go in a playoff scoring slump

Comparing championships won , would be a better indicator of clutch play .

Yes, because only 1 guy plays. Anze Kopitar is just so much more clutch in NHL than he is in international play

Clutch = small sample size

ian you said only one guy plays? no, only one guy isn't playing and that is 87 and yet he's supposedly the best player on the planet?

Have you watched the last few games (outside of game 5 where everyone but Malkin looked terrible)? Crosby was the best player on the ice for at least 2 of those games (3&4).

kovy you've watched different games than i did. crosby has looked like the best player in 1 game these entire playoffs and was the one before he scored his 1 big goal. that night he had 6 shots.

I don't know what to tell you. He was fine towards the end of the Columbus series....Game 1 was eh. Game 2,3,4 ... he looked back to normal. Game 5 everyone looked like garbage.

I don't think that he isn't clutch, but he needs to play better. Plain and simple. He has 10 goals in his last 40 games. Not anywhere near good enough.

I do think he's currently deferring too much. The 2-headed monster was a great decision by DB, but I think its time to split them up at this point, Geno is in his "God mode" and should be fine.

yes geno is playing like a mad man right now but thank god for that. where would we be if he wasn't? last year the blame was across the board against boston. but, as far as crosby's play goes, what has changed since then? he has 1 goal.

Crosby has 10 goals in his last 40 games. That means he had 27 goals in roughly his first 50 games this season. A dramatic falloff! Shooting % in playoffs of 3% versus 14% for the regular season. He's an absolute mess compared to his ususl standards.
