Thoughts on tonight

Postby murphydump55 on Tue May 13, 2014 1:46 pm

I'm curious as to everyone's feelings on tonight's game. Please answer truthfully and don't just say yes because the Pens are your team.

I truthfully hope they win because I'd love to see a Habs Pens matchup. The last thing I'd want to see is the Bruins again. Even with their sub par play at times during these playoffs, I still think they'd hand us our lunch again.

That being said, if the Pens lost tonight, I wouldn't be heartbroken because I'd welcome the mandatory change that would HAVE to happen. With the way this team played this year, I never really expected much of them in the playoffs and stayed away from them in all pools. If they lose tonight, they'd basically equal my expectations - win the first round, lose the second. Anything more would have been a bonus.

Now, with Bylsma's playoff history, record at home during the playoffs, and record at home when facing elimination, I don't have a ton of confidence going into tonight, especially with how they've played as of late.

Bad juju or not, unless Crosby and Malkin go back to their own lines, I don't see them being victorious.

Bring on the hate, but I'm just being honest.

No hate at this time... I believe the pens will win and move on to the next round. It's a hockey game, they've won plenty and this is just 1 more to win.

I honestly don't know. Ask me after the first 2 or 3 minutes of the game.

If the Pens mindset is anything like half of the fans they will lose. But I believe in them. They will find a way.

As noted, it is a hockey game, and theoretically, anything can happen.
The Pens are talented enough to beat the Rangers if they can stick to their game plan (See games 3 and 4), and show a bit of positive emotion.
To some extent, each person connected with the team is playing for a job next year, from GMRS all the way to Tomas Vokoun. Some may be playing to build stats to get that big paycheck elsewhere, but others are looking to stay here in Pittsburgh. Either way, it should benefit the Pens. The two biggest motivating factors for the Pens tonight will be pride and greed.
Pens win.

It's a tough call to make.
In this years post season they've shown;
They can play poorly.
They've shown they can play mediocre.
If they can show us GOOD (doesn't have to be great) tonight, they're a winner.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I didn't have any expectations going into the Playoffs. Then they drew the Blue Jackets in round one. Then they got the Rangers in round 2 and then games 2, 3 and 4 happened. I started to believe again. That was my fault.

Pens are playing for more than just a berth into the next round. Bylsma, Fluery, and others may have jobs on the line. Crosby and Malkin's legacy, good or bad is still to be built. I expect everyone at their best for this game. Pens win.

I think Fleury is safe, regardless of what happens tonight. He's proven that last year was an anomaly.

Game sevens are awesome. And so are the playoffs. I'm happy my team still has a chance.

Win or lose, enjoy this awesome team and core of greats while you still can. If any of you can still appreciate the glory they brought back to this once sad franchise. Most fans would love to have our team-sports problems.

I think knowing what a loss would cause is going to make them grip the sticks a little too tight and over think things. I don't have a good feeling. I wish I did and I hope I'm wrong. First 10 minutes, I believe, decide this game tonight.

The word "will" is just soooo strong.

I still said yes though. Losing 3 games in a row is just not something I would ever expect from this bipolar bunch.

I thought the last game at the Igloo was his legacy game.

If Sid takes a penalty on the first shift, you're on to something.

for all the negativity, they've still won more game 7s than lost in team history... 7-6.

I still think Rangers will win and we'll see a start reminiscent of Habs and TB game 7s.

Recall, though, that I suck at guessing sports outcomes.

In an hour i will have to decide upon a jersey for tonights game.

I know there is one in there good for a Pens 5-1 victory.

I don't know which one it is, but when the time comes, I going to pick it.

Attending my 8th game 7 tonight. 1-3 at home. 3-0 on the road.

Let's Go Pens
