His biggest fault has been sticking by Bylsma too long, and that we can correct. He's great on contract negotiation, great on trade negotiation, and good enough in the draft.
I echo again that I believe 10000 percent Bylsma was kept on...no no let me say that a different way..he was extended to make it easier to sign Malkin and Letang. They like the guy. He is not much older than most of the players.
I also believed that anything short of a deep stanley cup final series would be the end for bylsma. If he had gotten to the final and lost in 6 or 7 games it might have bought him another year. But a finals sweep and of course anything less will get him fired. We shall see what happens here but this team needs some major work and probably 50 percent or greater it needs mental work. The inconsistent passion and energy, self entitlement attitudes are a recipe for failure. This team needs a coach that has no fear of kicking these guys in the ass. Giving them a chewing out regardless of the damn number on the sweater.
BE A COACH FIRST AND A NICE GUY SECOND!!!!! Something Bylsma refused to do...unless you were a rookie or a journeyman. He had no problem sticking his chest out to Despres but Letang, Crosby, Malkin can do whatever they want no matter the impact on the team. Coach? No. More like trying to be friend.
