Michel Therrien Coaching EC Finals.... Bylsma Waiting the Ax

Postby PittsburghAfterDark on Wed May 14, 2014 10:05 pm

Now isn't this just sweet, sweet irony.....

One has the unheralded, lower seed the other has the biggest names on the hockey planet.

I'll ask it now, who's the coach killer?

When the Habs hired MT back after all these years I was upset, part of me wanted the Pens to re-hire him again. it was thanks to him they won the cup, DB just arrived at a good time when unfortunately that Pens team needed a change.
Now look at MT, 8 wins away from the Stanley Cup.

When DB is coaching another team and having unrelated success in 5 years, we will all be upset that he was fired.

No we wont. You said it yourself "Unrelated success" I have no doubt Bylsma will be successful elsewhere, maybe not Stanley Cup successful, but who knows. Wont change the fact he needed to go when he did, and this doenst change the fact Mike needed to be fired.

If in fact this team quit on Dan, or began to dislike him, (and we will never know the truth) but it will be the 2nd coach in 5 years this core group quit on and that says a lot more than anything.

And had Pens kept MT all these years they might not even have 1 cup win. Comparing apples to batteries is dumb.

Look at Jagr, still contributing at an NHL level, yet we traded him in 2001.

I'm kidding about the unrelated success.

They quit on MT after basically 3 seasons and DB after 5 full seasons. That doesn't show rotten to the core.

Not really. The average tenure of NHL coaches is three years. It's not because GMs are twitchy with the fire button. It's because practically every coach has an expiration date and will eventually lose the room. 2 coaches over an 8+ year period is unremarkable.

The fact is that players are privileged people. They are stinking rich. They are a product that earns billions, so they have a say. And they know it. They are also grown men who will only take someone less rich yelling at them for so long. :p Winning is the only way to avoid that.

There's several in contention right now. Someone should make an "official pointless thread" thread, complete with a poll where we can vote on which is the most pointless

I'm pleased to see FHCMT doing well.

But I fail to see the "irony" in it, nor do I feel any special happiness that my team is going golfing soon.

Nobody ever said MT wasn't a competent coach. His time had come to an end here in Pittsburgh.

Actually it does that's what's funny, you rarely make topics yet you make a sarcastic one and all the other Bylsma supporters use sarcastic posts. It's funny.

It's funny that we're not personally affected by something we have no control over?

Huh. I didn't think it would be "funny" to be a normal person.

Michel Therrien makes wine in his spare time. Often time listed mentioned in Wine Spectator. Big red, loads of tannins. He understands how to take the Cabernet grape, mature it to the perfect size on the vine, and pick it just days before maturation. Mature on the vine is different than letting it mature in a bin.

Once the grape is pressed for juice, left behind is skin and sometimes stem. By adding those both back in the fermatation process, they add tannins, or bitter.

Therrien has a technique to allow the must to blend with yeast and ferment.

Therrien wines are able to cellar no more than 15 years in a temperature controlled cellar. Allow 30 - 45 minutes of uncorked time to open the bouquet to the nose. Legs run long due to the deep punt used in bottling and residual sugar in fermentation.

Enjoy with a porterhouse steak.
