When will it be over for you 2014 edition.

Postby viva la ben on Wed May 14, 2014 10:25 pm

With the draft only ~ one month away it leaves little time for change to happen. Despite being teased with the success in games 2,3,4 vs the rags, i cant say what happened in the last three was surprising. The problem now is the ominous feeling that the Pens are nowhere near contending for a championship.

In a way, it already is over for me.

I knew this team was not going to go deep into the playoffs so I didn't get too much hope up when they beat Columbus. But the 3 straight dominating wins over the Rangers pulled me back in. It got my hopes up and then the same-old same-old playoff failure ripped my heart out (again). And I found myself last night wanting the Pens to fire the coach.

Maybe when they do, it will be over. :face:

The Bruins soiling themselves has improved my disposition.

People do realize that only one team wins the Cup every year right? 29 teams go home...

But the Pens have Crosby and Malkin.

They should go 16-0 in the playoffs every year.

Crosby should have a hat trick per game.

Fleury should have a shutout ever game.

Actually it was over for me a long time ago. If they win great, if they don't, they'll get em next time. Not sure when it happened but I seem to have detached myself emotionally from my favorite sports team, Steelers and Pens. Win or lose, my life doesn't change, I still have to go to work tomorrow. I cheer for them and want them to win, but it's not a big deal to me anymore.

There's no question the constant, soul-sucking disappointment of the last five years has greatly sapped my emotional investment in this team. I still watch the games, and I was still on the edge of my seat a bit during Game 7, but the constant expectation of failure tempers that excitement quite a bit.

This is how I've always felt. It's just a game.

Lucic in the line threatening to "get Weiss and Emelin next year"...... priceless. Yeah, I agree, seeing the Bruins lose does good things for me too.

I get it.

It is just the inconsistency. The lack of hunger in their game. That puzzles and angers us all.
