Beau Bennett

Postby Dickie Dunn on Thu May 15, 2014 11:13 am

Beau Bennett said he'll have surgery on his hand/wrist this summer. Added he'll be ready for start of next season #Pens

Can he be counted on for anything moving forward? Unless this surgery is to have adamantium grafted to his bones or to give him a Luke Skywalker cyborg hand the dude is damaged goods at this point. This is at least his third (maybe his fourth) wrist related injury or procedure in his career at the age of 22. Don't know if he'll ever have the durability to be a consistent contributor moving forward.

Now this is just plain laziness as a whole thread was created months ago for this exact same topic...

Rule 1: Bennett will get hurt.

Rule 2: If he's not currently hurt, he will be soon.

Rule 3: If he's not hurt, he's rehabbing.

Rule 4: If he seems like he's rehabbing, he's actually doing something stupid to reinjure himself (see Olympic break).

Rule 5: FDA evidence suggests that blond hair dye can cause bone brittleness.

I agree, no more draft picks from CA. All that sun makes you weak.

I've never understood making fun of injured players, especially ones that you supposedly root for.

This is not really news, he let on all along that his wrist affected his shooting. Glad its being looked after.

This is the first of what I expect to be a long list of injury news.

He's redundant in this roster, get rid of him.

I love Beau and I'm sure he can be successful in this league, but not here. He needs to carry the puck and he isn't going to do that if he wants to play on the top 2 lines.

He is my favorite player and the only forward of youth worth anything. He is also cost effective. I want to see him become the force I think he can become, his skill set is special. Anyone with eyes can see the potential.

He just needs to stay healthy. Get a full 82 games under his belt to master the pro level.

Oh yeah. And plus, what are you gonna do? Convince the team we're trading him to that he doesn't get hurt that often? Pull an Elaine and try to get a hold of his chart and erase things written in pen...?

Maybe another team will let us exchange our slightly damaged player for their healthy player...?

I wasn't suggesting to get rid of him or try to dump him on another team to get crap in return. I just don't see him as a player who can pencil in on the top two lines for 40+ points a year when it seems more likely that he'll play in less than 60 games due to injury.

At least whoever called that he was injured was correct. Even injured I thought he looked pretty good: you can see that the skill is there but the experience is not. I hope that while his wrist recovers this summer that he works on his speed and lower body strength.

he posted that he's never broken his wrist or hand... so it must be torn ligaments in the wrist? i'm not sure.

He didn't say hand. He tweeted "For the record, I've never broken my wrist."

So the hand is still in play.

EDIT: Ok, he later tweeted hand.

Beau Brittle does in fact have another owie.

Seriously though, why was he allowed to play in the first place? I thought the Pens upgraded their medical staff.

ATTENDANT: The doctor will be with you in a moment.

(Elaine looking at her chart)

ELAINE: Difficult?

DOCTOR: Elaine. You shouldn’t be reading that. So tell me about this rash of yours.

ELAINE: Well it’s, it’s… You know, I noticed that somebody wrote in my chart that I was difficult in January of ‘92 and I have to tell you that I remember that appointment exactly. You see, this nurse asked me to put a gown on but it was a mole on my shoulder and I specifically wore a tank top so I wouldn’t have to put a gown on. You know they’re made of paper.

DOCTOR: Well that was a long time ago. How about if I just erase it. Now, about that rash…

ELAINE: But it was in pen. You fake erased.

DOCTOR: All right, Miss Benes. This doesn’t look too serious. You’ll be fine.

ELAINE: What are you writing? Doctor?

Beau will have a great year next year IF that wrist can stay healthy because he'll have a coach that will properly utilize him in the lineup. He'll play all year with either Sid or Geno, where he belongs.
