You should look for something to imitate or emulate, that's for true...

No.

Hockey is a sport.

Sports nowadays is all about promoting juvenile attachments and "superfan" status. Encouraging a "we" mindset by grown men acting like children. Think about it for a second. Grown men wearing a jersey with another grown man's name on it. That's you know what (can't say it any more) at best, and infantile at worst. Rather than looking upon this type of immature behavior with a big helping of "WTF?", it is instead viewed by the leagues as a positive way to separate these simpletons from their money. I look at them like that guy (or mom) at the little league games that is berating and insulting the umps and other players... Really? REALLY? It's a game. And not even a game with millions of dollars on the line. /smh

So the idea you can find enough adults that watch sports who could discuss it in a mature way? Non-starter.

http://www.faceoff-factor.com/author/Jesse+Marshall/ - Jesse's a heck of a hockey mind. Might not always agree with him, but he always has insightful stuff.

http://thehockeywriters.com/author/mcolligan/ - Same with Mike Colligan. In-depth discussion from both of them.

Cause wearing a Jersey is so much more immature than ranting on an internet message board. :thumb:

I have a Martin jersey I wear. 2 practice jerseys, and a HNIC jersey as well. Wear to games only. I don't get the whole jersey as casual wear thing.

I bought the Martin jersey because I like him. Good dman. And I think he's hot.

Yeah, I said it. LOL

You should try meeting new people. The people you're talking about are a minute minority.

Are you a girl? Then it's fine. Girls watch sports and pick their favorite players "because they are hot". And that's fine. They aren't real sports fans though, and most couldn't carry a solid conversation about the sport itself. No big deal, at least as long as they don't pretend they are deeper than superficially liking a player because of his looks.

But when a guy is doing that, unless he is sporting a Danica Patrick or Maria Sharapova T-shirt? Well... it's sort of the same reason right? I think you know what I'm saying. I left the WNBA out since those women don't like men.

--edit

And I endorse Jesse's faceoff factor. It's a throwback to when adults talked about sports. Fun to actually LEARN something about what it is we are seeing out there on the field of play. Makes you a better viewer that can appreciate what is going on, and less likely to sound like a moron when criticizing or praising a team/coach/play.

Wasn't me that said I like XXXX player because he's hot.

I don't like any player because of his looks. I prefer to judge him by the content of his (sports related) character and not his looks.

She also said 'good dman' but I guess that doesn't fit your misogynistic rant.

I will say as one of the women who posts regularly on this board, I expect the misogynistic comments, given the age and/or mentality of some of the posters.

Unless it's incredibly offensive, I don't say anything. I just foe and move on. My sports cred speaks for itself.

And autocorrect blows.

Man LGP has gone off the rails lately.

Or I guess just PR. Seems like a lot of the crazies are out of the woodwork.

I wondered why the jersey wearer bashing sounded familiar (foe doesn't hide quotes) .

This was in The Hockey News today.
