James Neal is a scumbag. Let's sign Steve Downie.

So we traded Neal for locker room issues and then sig........you know what, forget it.

Glad we resigned Goc for his PK duty...cuz we're gonna need it.

Fans said Neal was a scumbag. The Penguins never said as much...or nearly as much. His trade very well could have simply been a "shake up the roster" move. Anything connecting his trade and his personality is nothing more than speculation.

Thank you Rick Tocchet. :thumb:

Downie had a tough year last season injury wise, but if he is healthy and on a one year deal, it is hard not to like this.

They need some nasty and he will bring it.

Yesssssss... Don't care if he's a scumbag on the ice. He's the type of scumbag that you love when he's on your team. And he's not the retarded knee people in the head scumbag. He's the pest. Good signing.

The average raise that a player gets for leaving Pittsburgh is around 400%, why not take a one year deal at any salary? :D

Hate Steve Downie. Cheap shot artist. Really dislike this signing, even though I know Downie has the potential to be really valuable for this time.

But oh well. Will still support the team.

Glass-Vitale-Adams to Comeau-Goc-Downie is a massive, massive, massive upgrade. Finally a fourth line that isn't a black hole.

Definitely a fan of this move. Both because downie can be a very useful player and because people here are going to dislike it. He can play up and down the lineup on either side of the center. He can score, he hits, he agitates and he's downie soft.

I'm not sure I understand the Neal comparison. Neal plays with no edge...no edge...no edge...tries to end someones career...back to playing with no edge.

Downie is like a Cooke or Ruutu. You benefit from him playing at that edge and the problem comes when he strays past it.

Yeah, he probably won't try to knee someone and pretend he didn't, I'll give you that...but...I'll put it this way...both this guy and Neal should be on the same "longitudinally challenged" bus.

Another good deal. Tocchet went to bat for Downie I imagine since he had his best seasons playing under him. The Penguins needed to get tougher this offseason and they've accomplished that.
