Postby WHITEY1 on Fri Jul 18, 2014 6:27 pm

2 year deal 900,000aav. That doesn't say two way deal anywhere. Wonder if anything else is in the works. Good deal I hope he gets a chance.

What does he reign? Also, do you need some help with your fantasy team?

Simon Despres reigned on the Iron Throne, having survived an attempt on his life by Lord Bylsma of Grand Haven, who enlisted the help of notorious enforcer, Deryk "The Mountain that Skates" Engelland

Despres-Letang is going to rule the world. A 2nd year at 900k is golden. Good job GMJR.

Spoiler:
Though looking into the future, Maatta and Despres will both be up for, if all goes well, expensive new contracts at the same time.

I just don't see Despres being anything more than a career 5th or 6th guy, and a average one at that. Pens need to beef up on the blue line, Despres is soff. At 6'4 you would think the guy could hand it out?? But he can't.

Not sure if serious? Despres plays the game with a similiar edge to Letang. Except he's 6-4. He's reviving the lost art of the hipcheck. It's a beautiful thing. Soff he is not.

Mark my word, Despres will be this team's #2 guy on this contract. If he gets paired back up with Letang, it might just happen this season. There numbers together were otherworldly.

Despres is most definitely not soft. He plays a physical game, especially this past season. Dude uses his size effectively.

Good deal,Im happy for Simon! Give him a real chance now.. He is great prospect and he is also more physical player now, which is another plus for him. He can become franchise D-man along with Maata.

I genuinely believe that with the right coaching and development scheme he could be a top 4 defenseman in the league.

Despres was set back 2 years by Bylsma's unfounded dislike for him. Hopefully, he can shake the last couple years and gain some confidence back. I think he could bloom into a very talented d-man.

Yeah, Bylsma signing Scuds last offseason and having final say in all hockey decisions (supposedly) showed Despres.
