I remember it was a Friday afternoon... I remember walking saturday morning at north park; everybody busted out their penguin gear. local 1250 radio was still on the air and they talked about the ticket personnel staying till midnight or later. Season tickets from Australia ... winning the lottery was only a step towards becoming a legit hockey franchise. Sid ; his talents, skills, and determination to be the best, was the guy climbing up the mountain and dragging the team along.

As a penguin fan always remember the moment of JOY at the envelope opening on 7/22/05.

Do you remember the LGP board being jammed up?

I was in one of those private AOL chat rooms you could create with two of my friends at different colleges during the whole thing. I was convinced this was he was going to NY or LA, and to a lesser degree Toronto. Now that the Pens won, I'm convinced it was all on the up and up. :pop: My phone blew up afterwards from two friends from another college who were watching and all we did was just recent his junior stats to each other lol. That weekend went to the Kenny Chesney concert at Heinz and there were carts with Crosby shirts and jerseys ready for sale.

I watched at home with my brother... Nervous as heck. I remember my heart dropped when Boston came up, I think I just saw the colors / and thought it was Pittsburgh. We jumped up and celebrated like it was some huge playoff victory. I remember texting friends and such about it super pumped / made an AIM away message, and no one else I knew cared.. at all. How times change

I remember sitting there watching as teams I hated came up, being glad at least that he wasn't going there. It wasn't until they got into the top 10, and especially the top 5 that I really started thinking it might happen.

I remember my family had Madden on the radio at the same time, and he was practically hyperventilating as each team went by.

I'll never forget when Bettman started to unveil the winner and the Pens logo began to appear. We went absolutely nuts.

That is a pretty awesome fact. I wonder if that has ever happened before? :thumb:

At the time my wife and I were barely getting by. We didn't have cable, but we did have internet. I remember sitting around the computer with my wife and 2 year old son watching the feed from the NHL website. It felt like the 1940's with families gathered around the radio. When the Pens ball came up we screamed and cheered out the window of our little apartment. I am pretty sure everyone thought we were nuts.

I remember I was watching at work, at a tiny startup, 6 total employees. I was the only hockey fan there. I was on AIM with my future brother-in-law. They all thought I was insane when I was jumping around like a lunatic. I have thankfully left the company and those idiot Stiller's Only fans.

I was also watching at work and skipping the slide show of a coworker's trip to Mexico. I think people were annoyed with me at the time. Ask me if I care now. I was a nervous wreck when it came down to the last two. When we won I did a big double fist pump and then texted about six friends. No one at work had any idea why I was so happy even though I explained it. Sometimes it's lonely being a hockey fan.
