Tough one. Let me crunch some numbers and get back to you.

Gretzky now, or 20 years ago? Also, which Gretzky?

I'll take Paulina for $300 Alex.

I'll go $400 :thumb:

I'd take Stempniak for $2.2M for 2 years over Spaling at $900K for one year.

You also are Stempniak's relative I think with all the praise you showered upon him when he was here.. so you are a bit biased.

Not even saying Stempniak is bad, he's not. Maybe he just wanted to go play in New York.

By that rationale, we should have traded Dupuis after the 2008 playoffs were over...

2008 was a different time and with a number of different variables, BUT I see what your saying. The difference for me was that Duper did bring other intangibles. Dupuis showed early that he had the glare, the chirp... that little extra that you knew he had your back. With Stempy, I never got that impression in the time he was here.s PLUS, I fondly remember Dupuis flying down the wing, winding up (almost ridiculously) with the BIG slapper and surprisingly scoring the odd time. (fond memories of that.... it used to be his "special move" so to speak).

While Stempy did impress me with some sweet moves at times, and even a couple hits, he just didn't seem to get ramped up in the playoffs. With Dupuis, he brought those elusive intangibles.

However, as I mentioned previously, this is just my opinion.

It was easy for Duper to get ramped up when he played in the '09 playoffs because he was scratched for 8 games during them.

Tread lightly. Keeping up with her has apparently put Dustin Johnson in rehab.

Yeah but he only makes 900k so he sucks for cheap. I heard if you assemble a team of cheap 3rd and 4th liners who suck you will be poised for success as evidenced in 2013-14

Stempniak is second rate. I'd gladly pay an extra 1.3 million for a guy who might not be.

Yep. Spaling is a fine bottom 6 forward. Much more than we could say last summer about the "players" that occupied said spots.

Stempniak was a rental from day one. IMHO he was OK. He did some good things but nothing to write home about. Maybe he'd have been better if he had signed but he chose NY. We have Spaling so, for me anyhow, the point is moot.
