2008 was a different time and with a number of different variables, BUT I see what your saying. The difference for me was that Duper did bring other intangibles. Dupuis showed early that he had the glare, the chirp... that little extra that you knew he had your back. With Stempy, I never got that impression in the time he was here.s PLUS, I fondly remember Dupuis flying down the wing, winding up (almost ridiculously) with the BIG slapper and surprisingly scoring the odd time. (fond memories of that.... it used to be his "special move" so to speak).
While Stempy did impress me with some sweet moves at times, and even a couple hits, he just didn't seem to get ramped up in the playoffs. With Dupuis, he brought those elusive intangibles.
However, as I mentioned previously, this is just my opinion.
