It's very simple, when you refuse to shoot the F'ing puck, you aren't going to score.

One-timer, Phil. One-timer and it's in. Oh well, better than 10-1.

They've been playing 9 forwards for basically the entire third period.

Because the 4th line is cancer.

Because they're all terrible and do nothing for the team.

Reaves - 3:39 of ice. :face:

Clearly the coach that won back to back Stanley Cups doesn't see anything in him, and neither should anyone on here.

But for some reason everyone in the organization praises him. I don’t get it. Hopefully Lauzon is better than whoever the Blues took in 5 years but the bigger probables is that was the main move this team made all summer.

Special teams lost this one. Both goaltenders were awesome.

Another thing to consider is Sully doesn't trust anyone on the 4th line at 5v5. None of them. Even Kuhnhackl has been getting peanuts for even-strength TOI. That means Crosby (mostly) and Sheahan are going to draw pretty much all of the situations that Cullen and Bonino took last year.

What a terrible situation they've back themselves into. Not sure how they get out of it until Rutherford pulls the trigger on some moves.

He's been MIA way too often. It's understandable but he'll pick it up some time...I hope

The Blues took the top ranked European skater and he apparently looked really good at camp. I hope we don't regret this trade in a big way.

Special teams continues to suck, remind me again what the $4M man brings to the table?

Hagelin is a complimentary player. He has never been a scorer. He has scored more than he has this year, but that's not what you pay him for.

They have fallen into a by-gone mold of essentially having specialists for the 4th line. I mean, this is Dan Bylsma Hockey 101. Play your top players too much and trot Craig Adams out there to kill penalties and play 2 minutes of 5v5 ice time. I mean, it's completely inane that the Pens have regressed to the exact thing they didn't want to be anymore.

It's a bummer that Cullen left (and got old). It's a bummer that Bonino played his way into a big contract (even though he broke his body getting it). More than anything, it's a bummer that Sid and Geno get pushed around and picked on (but they always have). That doesn't mean you just let those roster spots go to Craig Adams, Georges Laraque, and Kevin Porter. It's just obscene.

Simple missed clear leads to about 4 quality chances.

Tell me again what he's good at...

He is fast.

Good at PK, just like a handful of $700K guys in WBS...

I don’t think there would be a noticeable difference between him and Archibald.

Has to be a team with a ton of centers with zero wing depth and need Pk help that can make a trade with us.

It's getting close to the point of waivers being a decent option if we can replace him with Sprong and save $$$$$

We would actually save about $200k in cap space doing that.

I think that the plan would be for someone to grab Hagelin and his whole contract.

Agree about the shots not taken. The pens are not trusting their instinctive talents. Just thinking too much about who should get the goal and wasting an opportunity.
How can coaching be worried about Reaves penalties when Letang is getting 4- 6 mins .
A sportswriter said Crawford was clocked...no. Somebody doesn't return five mins later to finish the game. The violent snap of his head once Malkin skated by was his problem.
First regulation loss at home...they have time to get the fun and scoring back!

You will never have a better chance of scoring than when you are shooting directly in front of the net about 10 feet out. So, naturally, the Pens instead keep trying to feed an awkward pass to someone directly by the bar with a lower percent chance. Over, and over, and over. Diva mentality. Wanting the fancy pass than the boring shot.
