"Fantasy" pairings of two Pens players, who would you want ?

Postby Weegie on Sat Mar 10, 2018 8:08 am

Just for kicks and giggles, if you could somehow work it that just two Pens players from different eras could have played together on the same team who would you want to see? I have a few that come to mind, Mario and Lucky Pierre I think would have been quite exciting, Coffey and Letang same thing especially on the power play, many many more but which two would you have liked to have seen play together?

Something quickly off the top of my head and a bit out of the box was Kevin Stevens and Hornqvist on your wings? (in their prime) You would have to be quite the playmaker at center as that really isn't their forte, but imagine the toughness of your wingers taking it to the net.

....or Joey Mullen and Phil Kessel on your wings for some scoring punch! (I know their both RW's though)

The Pens had something somewhat similar with Tocchet on that line with Mario and Stevens. It worked very well!

Perhaps Malkin and Jagr. I saw Mario and Jagr, and I think Geno and Jags could have fit well together. Both are players who dictate the pace, as opposed to Sid always going 100 MPH.

Mario or Sid with Rick Kehoe would be interesting.

Which was the plan when Mario was drafted. Sadly, Kehoe never made it back from injury, so it never materialized.

Kehoe was one of my favorites. No telling how many points Mario would have had as a rookie with Kehoe out there.

Not to hijack but maybe an all-time or a season best OT lineup?

2018 it has to be Geno, Phil and Letang. But imagine Mario, Stevens and Murphy?

If I were to do that, I'd think I'd go with Mario, Jagr, Coffey.
