I think every time we challenged though in the playoffs we still would have won because the entire body was over.

What Malkin was doing was no off side in the spirit of the rule. Skating over the blue line should be fine. Change the rule to be a plane.

I think that would be a good way to fix this stuff. Thanks Del for clarifying these nuances in the rules!

NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League's Board of Governors today approved a change to the Coach's Challenge Rule (Rule 78.7), which will provide for the assessment of a two-minute minor penalty for unsuccessful coach's challenges to alleged offside infractions leading to goals.

The penalty for the unsuccessful offside challenge replaces the loss of a team's timeout, which had been in place since the implementation of the Coach's Challenge in 2015. Under the revised rule, a team does not have to possess its timeout in order to issue a challenge on the particular play, nor will it forfeit its timeout in the event of an unsuccessful challenge.

Rule 78.7(b) now will read:

b) If the result of the challenge is that the play was on-side, the goal shall count and the team that issues the challenge shall be assessed a minor penalty for delaying the game

Rule 78.7(c) If your name is Brierre you shall be allowed to be as offsides as you damn well please and it will still count.

Interference also needs to go to one group in Toronto too, this needs consistency and I hope they make that switch for the playoffs. I want the same standard applied in every situation.

Adding something about the "spirit of the game" to the rule would solve some of this review nonsense. Just get rid of it, good golly.

I thought Tyler was dead from that inadvertent stick to the helmet that caused him to have a facial seizure?

I agree with you DP, silly that that the rules mean it doesn't count... but they got it right this time.

Only thing you could frown at is the time it takes for them to drop pucks sometimes

That video should be shown coast to coast for a month. Maybe it well embarrass him into retiring and go play for Manchester United.

It’s a shame that a Seguin dive and an unfortunate off side is making this game close.

Letang just took a great rush and murdered it with a stupid turnover while trapped low in the offensive zone.
