Petrovicky returns to practice!

Postby gruntov on Tue Oct 31, 2006 1:39 am

Won't be back for several more weeks, but still that's better than the original estimate of December! :D

Those who have seen Petrovicky in action: Is he a regular on this squad? Which line? Sportsnet.ca represents him as a player in the Maxime Talbot mold.

He's like Dominic Moore but more physical. He's a Shero-type-guy in the mold of Moore, Ruutu, Eaton, etc...he'll be a real nice addition but as long as we're winning how does he crack the lineup, I'm not sure.

If Ouellet goes into a big slump you could put Petro on line 3. Petro is a 3rd or 4th line energy guy. PKer, etc... you know the type. He's good though. He's not a 4th line scrub-type like our 3rd/4th line was the past 3 seasons. He's the type of guy you want on your team for good hard working depth and TEAM TOUGHNESS. (yea i said it).

Just as long as it does not include a Hitchcockian "Team Toughness Challenge"...

His return would most likely spell the demotion of Talbot.

Petrovicky is a wing. Talbot is a center.

Well, in that case I think Thorburn would move back to center.

Still, I'm not sure Talbot is going anywhere. I think someone on the third line would, although it's pointless to speculate as Petrovicky won't be back for a few weeks anyway.

The only guys that could be sat based on performance are the two that wont be sat because of their contracts, Recchi and LeClair.

Talbot got jobbed by not making the team in the first place. This team can go F themselves if he goes back to Wilkes Barre.

He is a stud defensive center who can also put the puck in the net.

Depends on how much leeway Shero has as far as eating salary. According to the LGP roster page, the roster is at 22. The max is 23, right?

Of course, Orpik is close too, so they'll need to make a move sooner or later. Andre Roy never plays, even when he dresses. Maybe they waive him and send him down. Talbot is playing well. I would think Shero's preference would be to make the roster move based on performance.

I think if they were to eat someone's salary, it would be Cairns. As far as the starting lineup, I think Petrovicky and Thorburn would alternate, or maybe someone who is underachieving at that point in time.

Seeing that we're pretty much at the beginning of November, wouldn't "several more weeks" be December? Sounds like he's right on schedule.

Are you an English teacher Roland?

I considered several more weeks to be PRIOR to T Day, or for you, in November. Initially, he was expected back in December.

Hey, thanks for all your contributions! Stop back often.

There's no way that Talbot should go down. No, I'm not basing this on his performance Saturday, although it adds to his already convincing argument.

Max has impressed me from the beginning of last season. He's a great role-player. His PK skills are great, adding to our already great PK (well, except for on the road...). He also has a scoring touch, as displayed on Saturday (really pretty goals... really pretty...). If anyone goes, I'd say at the time it will be Ouellete (unless we've traded him by then). He just doesn't do anything but PP goals. That's great, but we need more 5v5 goals and I think Talbot gives us the better chance at doing that.

That said, Petro will be a welcome addition to the team when he comes back. I've always liked his style of play when he wasn't a Penguin. Again, more of a gritty, hard-working game and I like it! He'll look good with Moore and Ruutu. Move old man Johnny to the fourth line.

Ummm... so? Talbot got called up to replace Malone and/or Stewart on the roster, both of which are wings.
