When I see Jake play I think of the courtroom scene from the movie Mystery, Alaska

That boy has a heart bigger than this whole courtroom.
He plays to play. He skates to skate!
He don't make a million bucks a year!
He loves the game of hockey! He LOVES it!

OK - to be fair Jake is close a $1 mil at around $925K including bonuses but still he just looks like he’s having a great time out there. What’s even better is he works his tail off like Sheary but with A LOT more skill. What a great young player !!!

That was intense!
10 more wins and 10 goals for Jake!
Evgeni's full flight goal.
Team defense in the third!

Were you at the game?

The first period was kind of meh, but both teams really brought it in the second. What a game.

He's hurting the team right now and needs to remove himself from the lineup. I admire his willingness to try to battle through whatever is ailing him, but enough is enough. He's got nothing out there.

There is no option better than a 60% Kessel that isn't suiting up. Kessel stays and guts through this.

You may be right but there are better options for the PP and the team should use them.

It can be effective though when used properly, notice how Maatta falls right into their trap.

I think Simon has played pretty well this series. He just hasn't scored any goals. He has hustled and created some chances. He even got a little snarly a couple of times behind the net after receiving some stickwork. (As much as he could anyways) He hasn't scored , but neither has anyone else besides whoever is on Sid and Jakey's line. The whole rest of the team is due. I would have to believe it's good to have that in the tool bag going forward. Someone not named Sids Line is due for a game clincher.

Jake is trully a playoff monster :D hats off

and that check from Orlov, when Jake scored first goal ,was just nasty and worth additional penalty.. if Jake would hit the post with head,it would be ....

I thought his play on line 1 was pretty good last night. He’s a better fit there than line 4.

Old school antics with Don Cherry again...stating Penguins should have kept Reaves and that this would be settled down had Pens kept Reaves. Totally not getting the idea that those days are over.

There were noticeably less odd-man breaks in this game compared to the first few, and not surprisingly the Caps weren’t generating much offense. They have fourth line caliber forwards on their top two lines. Their offensive depth is really crappy. They’re generating pretty much all offense either on odd man rushes or power plays. It seems like last night’s blue print should continue to work if the Pens are patient and disciplined enough to carry it out.

Agreed, and the only goal the caps scored took an unbelievable pass/shot with a tired pk group out.

Don't know if it's been said here, but Ruhwedel made a helluva play on Jakub Vrana's mini-breakaway.

I question that he's even 60% right now. All he can do is dangle with the puck near the boards. He's turning the puck over continually, giving up on plays defensively and not getting back, not getting himself into scoring areas. He's a liability out there.

I know that beating the Sprong drum is getting old and I'm tired of hearing it too, but he couldn't possibly be any less effective out there than Phil is right now. And just maybe, if Phil sits for a week or so and the Pens are able to advance without him, he comes back healthier for the next round.

I know I'm old and my eyesight is bad, but are they 7 Capitals skating around in that picture?
