Pens Leadership

Postby Penspal on Mon Sep 24, 2018 4:02 pm

Sid getting Simon out for practice in NS
Tanger working with Sprong in summer workouts
Ollie for taking Riiks under his wing

It tells me that the Pens are in good shape and
Geno needs a Russian protege?

Comes from the top. Read a piece somewhere recently talking about Sid's leadership skills. Even Matt Cullen was impressed. Recchi said you could see it right from the start.

He takes the time to make sure that everyone, from the best to the lowliest, is comfortable on the team. New players that come to town through free agency or trade usually immediately get a text from him, with an offer to help them find a house when they get here.

The story that Murray gives of Sid introducing himself at Murray's first training camp is priceless.
"Hi, I'm Sid"
"Uhh, yeah, I know who you are." :D

Not a Russian protege as I mentioned earlier, but definitely a fantastic thing to do for someone who sounded like they need it.

I know he's 27yo but he's free!

He would have to be open to playing LW, as he is listed as a left-shot RW on Elite Prospects. I think we are good at RW for the next 100 years.
