Official GDT: Pens @ Oilers 10/23/18

Hopefully the longish break hasn’t killed any momentum for a very well played game in Toronto.

I’ve never seen McDavid flub a wide open net like that.

I've never seen him have Crosby's hand-eye coordination. He would have needed it there with the puck hitting him in the knee and not on the ice......would have been a baseball goal.

Still waiting for this dynamic offense of the Pens to bust out.

Not a fan of Rust on the 1st line either. I like Jake with Sid and Horny.

I believe this will be my last game mentioning his name for some time, but, almost 8 minutes into the 1st, one Penguin has yet to get a shift in the game. Any guesses who?

JJ threw one Lat game too on Hyman. But that one was impressive. Lucic isn’t easy to stop and knock down.

As I said last game, we needed some "is Sid finished" posts to get him going. That's one. It may take a few more to get him going on one of his tears.

Simon is the only guy I haven’t noticed.

Sprong has 13 seconds of ice time. Hornqvist took two of Sprong's shifts, and Rust has taken 1. Reason.......those 3 shifts that 72 and 17 took all began in the defensive zone. Sprong just needs to be scratched at this point. Quite ridiculous that in a 1-0 game in the first period Sullivan won't put Sprong out in the defensive zone. Sullivan is over-dramatizing his perceived issues.

With a PP and a PK, ice time will be low for guys like Simon and Sprong, but Simon has 1:04 of ice time.

Like I said, though, tonight will be my last time discussing it. I feel it has become a Moo point by now. Wasting my breath talking about Sprong anymore.

I agree Sprong is not being used well. You have a dead roster spot that would be much better served with a guy like ZAR who’s sully clearly likes enough to play him with Geno in the playoffs and it’s making his trade value drop because no one can see what he can do. It’s the same thing that they did with Pouliot.

Play him more or trade him. This isn’t helping anyone right now.

Riikkola is looking really good right now. Him and Johnson are looking like a really solid pairing.

Agreed. He just did it again. 4th line with Sprong came on. Got about 20 seconds of zone time, forced an icing, Sprong pulled off and Hornqvist put on for the offensive zone draw. It's just completely puzzling and asinine.

And Simon isn't getting used much more than Sprong, so Sullivan is already going with mostly 10 forwards in the first period.

Phil had about four options at the point on the power play and chose the one option that caused a turnover
