I’m not sold on Tanev. Strikes me as a guy who is great in the regular season when not everyone is in playoff mode. Then when everyone else turns it on in the playoffs, he’s invisible.

The team wanted nothing to do with this environment . It was plain to see the way they came out in the exhibition game against Philly.

They enjoyed the break .

The only makes that should be safe for next season.

Completely agree.

And if the coaching staff can’t get more out of this team, it’s time for all of them to disappear, too.

We all saw the Habs as no 12 seed but living in Monttreal I knew they had a lot of big injuries this year and as it turns out when all healthy they are a pretty good team. Congrats to them.

What makes Tanev safe? It sure wasn't his good play.

Sure, but those names i would seek to keep.

Ideally, i would like to see Sullivan, Recchi, Malkin, Letang, Petterson, Johnson, Sherry all gone. Obviously Marleau is gone already.

Yeah, me. too.

Tomorrow, Mario should spread all the remaining pieces of the puzzle out on his coffee table and decide how best to move them. And please, let's replace Recchi with a real powerplay coach. I think Sullivan should be on very thin ice, too.

Not going to lie. I'm a LOT more excited about a 1 in 8 chance if the top pick than i would have been about the next round with this level of play.

However if we win the first pick...then honestly this will be a ROUSING success. Maybe that's their plan all along?

Malkin????

Geno was having an incredible year with Jake. He gets crapped on again for linemates and you want to complain about Geno?

Whatever!

For a generational talent, he's been absent THREE YEARS IN A ROW in the playoffs. Oh but he put up over a point in the game in the regular season so i guess it's all good.

Two years definitely. The third was 8 points in 9. But wasn't he coming off injury in that one?
Anyway, the last two years are inexcusable. And as bad as Malkin has been in those two years, Crosby only has 1 more point. With better linemates. Would be a good time to freshen up the core.

100% been my headspace since they dropped game 1.

People who think Geno is the problem are idiots. Plain and simple. The organization screws him every year regarding real linemates. When Sid was injured and he got a real winger you could see what he can do. Then Sid comes back and Jake goes back to Sid and everyone is upset Geno can’t make magic with ****.

Geno should retire a Pen when he is ready to retire. Hopefully a long time from now.

Geno can go back to his beach condo now. Clearly didn’t want to be there.

My untouchables: Jarry, Marino.

Anybody and everybody else available for the right price. This is two gutless playoff efforts in a row.

look, I love malkin and have enormous respect for what he's done in his career here. But the reality is that he has been years removed from being a reliably and consistently dominant player. Enough rose colored glasses. His endless headcase nonsense with one problem or another explaining why he doesn't perform is tiresome and is not in the team's best interest. Linemates, homesickness, home trouble, injury, etc etc etc enough already. you get paid insane money to be a dominant player and he just hasn't been for years. putting up extra points in the regular season mean a whole lot of nothing when you can't be counted on or reliably be expected to dominate when it matters. No one is untouchable. Even Gretzky got traded.

Recchi and Coach Sullivan (thank you for these superb years!) are on the block, maybe give defense to NO 55 and allow Mr. Martin to walk away with his head high, did some amazing things. Concerning players, Marleau no doubt he is out, Sheary also, rest I would look first what we can get back.

They brought nothing to this game. no energy. No heart. No plan.
This teams expiration date is up.

Really curious how ownership will view this. Will they view this as a regular playoff bad loss ? Or just a team that was off 4 months that couldn’t “get to their game”?

Only one way to look at it, taking into account the talent level and experience level of this team, this is a big let down. No other way to look at it.

Thankfully, I was about as emotionally invested in this series as the Pens were. So many things to vent about but getting out-coached by Claude Julien says it all. Have fun golfing fellas.

I would have thought a swap of Zucker and Guentzel would have been a good idea for generating offense instead of tossing slow *** Hornqvist on Geno’s line.

Sullivan did nothing to try to change momentum or make adjustments in game. Sounds like another pens former coach!

How you don’t try to stack the lines and put Sid and Geno together to try to generate 1 goal to win the game doesn’t make sense to me.

Let’s just keep rolling out the same BS lines
