“The Penguins are very proud to partner with Aramark to make PPG Paints Arena the safest and most innovative sports and entertainment dining experience in the country,” Penguins CEO and president David Morehouse said in the release. “Following our announcement of the Rivers Casino deck last week, we have several construction projects underway to keep our fans safe and we look forward to welcoming fans back to the arena with improved food and beverage facilities and the latest fan interactive technologies.”

As today is 10/1- and we should be preparing for the pens first game of the season.
I don't know when the fans will be allowed in a closed building - all credit to the pens for trying to think ahead.

I wonder if this is just a move the Penguins will be making and to what extent the changes will affect seating arrangements. I wonder what the NHL would be like if the arenas enlarged the ice surfaces to match the rink size used in international play. If they are changing seating, they could enlarge the ice surface as well, and make the game much faster and better in my opinion. Just a thought that probably will never materialize.

People been asking for larger ice sheets for decades. Will never happen now. They missed their opportunity when all the teams started building new arenas. If they would have added it in to the initial plan, most all the teams would have turned over to the larger sheet by now.

it is even LESS likely right now imo that that would happen(and I don't think it was ever that likely to begin with). If they have to social distance fans they cant make the seating area smaller. If they have to socially distances that will already cut out 50%(or whatever figure it might be) of fans so they aren't going to be volunteering to lose even more seats than they already are.
