There is a ton of goalie chatter around league today. I think Murray move is coming soon.

My bets are the following:
4 to 1 Ottawa
8 to 1 Minnesota
10 to 1 Edmonton
15 to 1 Buffalo
20 to 1 some random team

$2.635 currently. If Angello signs for league min. ($.700) and Lafferty signs for $.735, they would have $1.200 in cap space with a 23 man roster. Simon could also sign for $.900 and Pens would have $1.000 with Angello getting sent to WBS.

I hope not! Can't meet Murray's contract demands plus return will be peanuts for Jarry.

It's the structure of most contracts around the league. For the Pens, it gives a bit of credence to the alarmist "cutting payroll" stories. Where the report missed the boat was assuming it was the cap. Right now, the Pens have 21 of 23 roster spots filled at a cap hit of $78.865175M, with an actual salary of $74.135175M. That's a savings of $4.73M. actual payroll is going to end up in the mid $70's.

It's been pretty much that way with all the contracts being signed, not just the Pens. It's a benefit both to the team and the player. Jarry's 1st season salary saves the team real dollars, but also benefits Jarry since escrow is all but guaranteed to be 20% this year. The thought is it will decrease in subsequent seasons, allowing the player to keep more of their earnings. Smart for both sides.
