The CAPS and the Devils have their sponsors set for the new helmet advertising space.

What will be on the pens helmet?

Dunkin Donuts
PPG Paints
Mario's Foundation
No, not the big local sporting store. 8-)
Peoples- little gas flame added

Somebody new???

I wonder if there is a tax advantage to put a charity logo on that space as an in kind contribution? Might be better for Mario’s and the other owners bottom line to put the MLF logo on the helmets as a tax write off instead of getting whatever income comes in from selling it.

As far as a corporate logo, PNC and Heinz already sponsor the smother stadiums, that could get them involved here or drive them away. US Steel would be interesting.

My money is on Heinz. I heard they were working with the Pens to develop a helmet that dispensed ketchup so every high stick would be a 4 minute double minor.

Oh well I'm not a big fan of corporate advertisements on players. I understand they're under pressure to generate some revenue with no fans in the stands for the most part. Just wonder if this is a slippery slope which leads to advertisements on uniforms like you see over in Europe.

Yikes, I was hoping it was going to be a tasteful, subtle thing. Nope, that thing is freaking huge.

I hope this lasts for only this season and is not an ongoing thing. I like the purity of the uniforms without ads. I can still recall white dasher boards.

I'm fine with the ads on soccer unis as a trade off for seeing two 45 minutes halves of uninterrupted play. Commercial breaks are far more offensive and obnoxious to me. I think it is a good temp solution for hockey revenues, but not long term unless I'm getting something in return as a fan (like maybe stop asking me to pay for your new venues). Sadly though, I think the cat's out of the bag and sliding down that slippery slope.

The only thing that I semi-argue about for jerseys is that they should stick to color at home, white on the road. The opposition team should not be flying their colors in your building. This is the way that it is now, but there was a period of white jerseys at home. Boo to that.

Well if you're PPG and are giving money to the team for an advertisement, you want to make the logo visible.

It's the biggest helmet ad I have seen so far. I agree it is a little large for my liking. Make it about 25% smaller and I think it would be fine.

To large and I wrongfully assumed the colors would be white on road helmets or the main jersey color on white. Not liking the teal blue.

But right now if this gets teams and the NHL enough money to play hockey then so be it. I would not be surprised too if this money eventually gets put into some pool for team assistance down the road if this sticks after fans come back hopefully by April.

If you guys don't like the helmet advertising, you probably won't like the fact that the Penguins are playing this season in the Mass Mutual NHL East Division. :face:

Canadian teams are in the Scotiabank NHL North Division.
West coast teams are in the Honda NHL West Division.
Centeral teams are in the Discover NHL Central Division.

Now all we need is some Pearl Vision ads on the referees and we'll be all set.

I just read Jesse Marshall- with that information. First I am happy the NHL can find the sponsors during this time. Look out Iceburgh; he too may have a sponsor.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I don't see any turning back now. Extra income is extra income.
