The penalties that are of the bench minor nature have got to stop. too many of those lately.

Sad thing is, if he goes 6 inches lower and gets Staal's stick instead of his gloves, its a good play.

An unlucky bounce and the Pens are down 0-1.

Does'nt matter! Why would you even DO that? This is why the Penguins are lossing games against good teams, they take needless undisciplined penalties. It isn't just Talbot.

Because if he had lifted his stick, he had a decent chance to steal the puck with no one between him and Ward. At that point E.Staal would have had to take a penalty or make a really good defensive play.

Completlely agree. It was a good hustle play by Talbot.

Fact: The Penguins suck against good puck possession teams.

Welcome back to Earth, Penguins.

Remember all the consternation last year about how Therrien had to try and install a new system midseason? Now imagine a team that has had Therrien's system beaten into it then having to learn yet another system.

It would take a collapse of epic proportions for Therrien to be let go at this point.

This team does not HIT anymore. How can Ray Whitney make that many back and forth moves in a row without being drilled?

0 - 2 Pens scrambling around in their own end, again. This is becoming quite the trend recently. Going to be a long night if they keep this up.

Watch how the Penguins defensmen just chase everybody around , just reaching in there with their sticks. Nobody taking the body, no toughness, no one on one battles being won.

Pens got outskated on that shift and also got caught chasing the puck too much. Ray Whitney was on fire coming into this game.

Absolutely horrible turnover by Thorburn...

This is just unbearable to watch. They give up a 5 on 3 goal and basically quit! They had jump for the first 10 minutes of the game, then poof, gone.

You forgot Crosby got schooled by Brindy to get the puck out of their end and up ice.
The shine has worn off the team and now we will see how good they are.

crosby, ekman, malkin, thorburn, talbot are pretty much it when it comes to guys that can skate, shero did say he is still looking for speedy player who fit into the way he want the pens to play.

Eric Staal has about 10 feet of reach on Talbot. He DID lift his stick! What happened? Staal had about 3 seconds to recover and he only needed .5 to lower his stick back down. Do you really beleive that little Maxim Talbot could lift his stick with so much authority that Eric Staal would not be able to recover? Staal knew exactly who was hounding him, and he knew that if he tried to go around him he would spring out the other side. Talbot was baited into hooking Staal and like an idiot he took the bait. He should have tried to tap the BUTT END of the stick like a veteren NHL penalty killer would have done. If it pops free go for it, otherwise skate to the bench and get a fresh killer on like you are supposed too.

It's a young and inconsistent team. We knew that in training camp.

If the Pens come back and win this game, it'll be amusing going back and reading these posts.

Pens win = playoffs. Pens lose = worst team in the league.

I'm beginning to think there is no middle ground, at least in the minds of internet message board communities.
