I have seen a couple places that the Sens are looking to add depth to their roster and could be using Volchenkov and/or Vermette as trade bait. I know these are extremely talented young players, but if the Pens can find a way to snag one of them, it'd be a huge boost to the team.
In addition, Philly might have to offer up a prospect with a significant upside to get some more depth.
I could see Leclair and Recchi being traded for more than we expect. Then again, we could also see trades similar to those in previous years.
Lastly, I don't think the Pens should trade Gonchar, and I don't necessarily think there is much interest around the league. But, I would not be surprised to see a team desperate for a PP QB to come knocking and offer more than what they should.
Keep in mind that at the trade deadline, it is all about needs. If a team has cap space and a specific need, they might overpay to get that need. The Pens have a solid depth RW in Recchi, PP specialist in Leclair, and PP QB in Gonchar. All have their flaws, but all also have very attractive aspects. I'm not saying I think anything major will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised. Remember, CP is trying to keep his job, right now. He knows that making bad moves or no moves could spell the end of his tenure with the Pens -- if his offseason moves haven't already. I expect him to try to do some slick trading...lets hope it works.
