Mayor suggestion: Let him/her send there Pardon PM during the day phase (if they don't get it in before the final salt, TS)

Discuss mayor's role. (can he talk through me to the gardener? and tell him suspicions? Or how about if the gardener researches the MAYOR, he can come in contact with him through me? but not any sooner. If its a hidden identity, how would the gardener know who to talk to? The mayor still wouldnt know the identity of the gardener though...) Can he send it in on spot?

I like allowing him to talk secretly through you to the Gardener, but I also like him being able to become a Slug still. Those two ideas seems to conflict though.

I've read the last several game threads and I was afraid that the Mayor's role in Slug Wars might tip the scales in favor of the village. That didn't happen since the mayor was operating in the dark and was recruited. Although the village won, it had little to do with the Mayor role. I don't think the uselesness of the Mayor in the last game is a sign that the role is wrong -- it just worked out that way. ...Maybe.

What if the Gardener lets the Mayor know what he's found and the Mayor has been converted? Then the Mayor might let the slugs know who the sexta or bird is, no?

What I've liked about the game is the work needed to make an educated guess at who should get salted/eaten/NOMed/pardoned. Or it could be a shot in the dark. That's the way a fear-ridden village would probably react. Therefore, I'm inclined to say that the Mayor role should be left the way it was in Slug Wars I. But that's just my first reaction.

That's kind of the idea I was going with. We hear so much of "corrupt politicians", I thought it would be a fun little twist. Of course, if the gardener suspects that the mayor (whose identity would be unknown, unless previously researched) may have been converted, he stops PMing Senka to tell the mayor his findings.

I think if there is any communication between the gardener and mayor, it has to be done through Senka. For example:

It is night:
-Gardener PMs research
-Senka PMs Gardener result of research
-Gardener sends PM to Senka saying "Share with Mayor"
-Senka PMs Mayor the Gardener's findings.
-Mayor PMs Senka his pardon.

If the gardener chooses not to share, Senka would PM the mayor "the gardener chooses not to share information" or like "no information received" and then the mayor can PM his pardon.

The mayor would never truly know the gardener's identity.

That's the trick. Personally, I know that if I were the gardener and I found the bird or sexta, I would think long and hard on whether or not I'd want to tell the mayor, and I probably wouldn't, in case he did get converted. It would be solely the gardener's choice to let the mayor know of the information he has found.

I really think this only works in a recruiting game, though. If the wolves are set at the beginning, I think this would tip the scales really in favor of the village.

A question: if the Gardener ID's the Mayor and the Mayor's been converted, does the Gardener get both pieces of information?

Oh, and I'm liking the idea that the Mayor makes his/her pardon during the day (before the final salting tally, of course).

I haven't read all posts in the thread for detail but if you keep the mayor and want to throw around the idea of him communicating with the gardener, how about this?

Gardener and mayor cannot communicate until the gardener researches the mayor. Once researched, the gardener is only told the mayor is the mayor and not if he is on the slug or village side. At that point, the gardener can choose to contact the mayor at any time, or not. It would be a risk taking thing.

I would say he would get all the information that is present at the time, with the option to re-research later on if he suspects there might be some slugruption.

wait.. I like how Gardener can share info (there isnt CONVERTING this game, right?) We could do Alpha, 3 slugs, and one recruiting spot, so they can pick one... but they have to waste a night doing that...

I am one for "gardener cant speak to mayor unless he researches him. once he researches him, he can know who he is and send him messages. but idk.

OKAY. 22 in.

Issues up for debate:

1) should gardener get to share with mayor?
2) if so, should he only be allowed to do this if he researches him?
note--if mayor is allowed to be the slug, then i say, gardener has to take that chance and can speak whenever.
3)with 22 people, 5 SLUGS?
4) will we allow one recruit to slugs throughout the game (almost like a hybrid)? (start with 4, recruit to 5. or start with 5, recruit to 6) --or just random.
5)Time limit will be enforced too (10 hours? for both village AND roleplayers)
6)Mayor i think should be random (slug/reg, that way, gardener has to decide if he wants to share info before investigating, not knowing anything)
