Anyone ever come to ol Wheeling to watch the Nailers. I think they are doing bad this year....

I have gone to a good number of games, but not this year. I have probably seen upwards of 40 over the last 6 or so years.

I'm heading down next weekend (probably Friday) to my first ever Nailers game. Can anyone give me any advice in terms of the best sections to sit, where/how much to park, etc.? Is the arena pretty easy to find?

Also, how is watching an AHL game live vs. an NHL game?

Actually, you will be seeing an ECHL game, a level below AHL.

The beautiful thing about minor league hockey is its much more of a family-friendly atmosphere. Cheaper prices, more fan interaction, etc.

But, you will notice a big difference in the quality of play from NHL to ECHL. Don't get too upset about overskated pucks, pucks that bounce over sticks at the point, or sloppy defense.

It is still a good time though.

I knew that about it being ECHL. My fingers were working faster than my brain.

Nah, the sloppy play won't bother me too much. As long as it's exciting, I'll be happy.

I didn't feel like making a new topic for this, but I always see the advertisements for the Nailers, I just haven't motivated myself to get to a game yet. Maybe next year.

There's always Johnstown too. But I haven't seen a game there in years either.

I have never been to a game in Johnstown. We talk about it, and then go to Wheeling, lol. I guess we are just already familar with the drive and all.

I went to the Nailers' game last Friday night and I'm going again tonight. It's different than watching the Pens, obviously, but a lot of fun.

If you go down to wheeling next season , head to wheeling downs . Play the ponies or the dogs and good luck.

Sorry, Jim, I'm 2.5 months behind in this reply. No, it was the Lemieux bobblehead and "Ric Flair Night" WHOOOO! turned into "WHOOOPS!" We only let the first 2,000 fans get bobbleheads, and only 500 people can meet the Nature Boy. As far as I'm converned that organization is a complete sideshow and other ECHL teams outsurpass its professionalism. They could play Nailers games in a 500 seat arena and people still wouldn't come. Just my thoughts.

There seemed to be decent turnouts when I have gone. The odd semi-empty game, but also a couple near sell-outs.

My only gripe with their promotions was a couple years ago when they had nesting dolls, but you only got one doll per game... you had to go to three games to get the three levels of the nesting dolls. THat was BS.
