Mullen and Sims won't be returning

Postby Admin on Wed Jun 14, 2006 12:52 pm

Joe Mullen and Al Sims will not return as the head coach and assistant coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the 2006-07 season, it was announced Wednesday by Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Ray Shero.

A search for a new coaching staff will begin immediately.

Can't say I'm disappointed. It never made any sense to me that Mullen wasn't good enough to keep as an assistant here, but somehow was the guy to coach all of your best prospects? Bringing in Sims to help was a good idea, but the situation was still less than ideal.

Here's to getting an experienced coach that is also good at teaching.

The Pens kind of had the Catholic Church relocation plan in place. No one ever really left, they just got moved around when they screwed up.

At work we refer to those type of organizational changes as "rotating the bald tires".
