The Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned left wing Daniel Carcillo and goaltender Andy Chiodo from the Wheeling Nailers to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, it was announced Monday by General Manager Craig Patrick. Additionally goaltender Andy Franck has been returned on loan to the Wheeling Nailers.
Carcillo, 20, recorded one goal in three games with the Nailers during the past weekend. In two stints with the Nailers this season, Carcillo has recorded five points (3+2) and 32 penalty minutes in six games.
Pittsburgh 's third round choice (73rd overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft has appeared in 38 games with the Penguins this season, recording 20 points (9+11), a plus-8 rating and 232 penalty minutes.
Chiodo, 22, played in three games with the Nailers over the weekend, going 2-1-0. He made 31 saves in a 3-0 shutout of Trenton on Friday night before splitting the following two contests. In 17 games with the Nailers this season, Chiodo has posted a 10-5-1 record with a 2.84 goals against average and .897 save percentage.
He has appeared in two games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, going 1-1-0 with a 4.50 goals against average.
Selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round (199th overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft, Chiodo has appeared in 68 games in parts of three seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting a 28-30-4 record with six shutouts and a 2.68 goals against average. He has also appeared in eight games with Pittsburgh, going 3-4-1 with a 3.46 goals against average.
Franck, 24, dressed as a backup to Dany Sabourin Friday and Saturday night in Wilkes-Barre. He has posted a 17-7-1 record with a 2.30 goals against average, .911 save percentage and two shutouts thus far with Wheeling. He currently ranks fifth in the ECHL in goals against average and tied for second in wins.
Franck also stopped seven of eight shots he faced for the American squad at the ECHL All-Star Game last Wednesday night in Fresno, CA.
A native of Lakewood, OH, Franck spent three seasons at Mercyhurst College, where he posted a career record of 43-26-5 with four shutouts and a 3.12 goals against average in 81 games with the Lakers.
