its being replaced by the Buick Classic, in Hartford! Now they really don't deserve anything else from Pittsburgh!

That was a pretty good event for Pittsburgh to have. That sucks that we won't have that in the area anymore.

Just one more thing that's leaving western PA. Last person out, please turn off the lights.

Shocking.

Its hard to describe the amount of money Joe Hardy poured into that golf course, the John Daly Teaching Center, the accomodations for the players, paid for roads to be built that would help with traffic.

He also lobbied hard for a better tournament date in mid-summer and got it. Next year the 84 Lumber Classic was going to be the week after the US Open which is a pretty prime date especially with the US Open being played at Oakmont in 2007.

I would have loved to be on the conference call between 84 Lumber and the PGA Tour. "Um, yeah, thanks for that prime date and all but we are not sponsoring anymore, thanks again though".

I am very anxious to read more about this in the papers tommorow.

This is truly shocking, but I always wondered where Hardy was coming up with the $$$ for the tourney. 84 doesn't have the jack to support that kind of extravagance.

File this under wild speculation/ hopeful thinking but..

Maybe Hardy has given up golf to focus on say another sport such as hockey. More specifically the Penguins.
