Coke Blak is not good

Postby Admin on Thu Apr 13, 2006 3:09 pm

Denise bought us a four pack (8 oz bottles) of Coca-Cola Blak. Drinking the first one right now and it's not good.

Strike one, it has aspartame which always leaves a weird aftertaste.
Strike two, it has a nauseating coffee smell.
Strike three, the coffee/aspartame aftertaste is really foul.
Strike four (yeah, I know it's already out), it's called a "carbonated fusion beverage." Okay, whatever.

This gets two opposable thumbs way down.

Update:
This stuff has given me a major buzz. Me no like it even more...

It doesn't even sound like it'd taste good. Coke Black? Kinda grim.

This is why I'll never make it out of Juniors. I'll probably have to go work in some mill in Thunder Bay in a few years, no ECHL for me.

I'm on a C2 kick right now. Also high on my list is Mountain Dew LiveWire (which is the orange stuff). I can only find it in 20 oz bottles and seemingly only at Sheetz (which rulez BTW). :D

Sheetz is great. While the oranes is good, Pitch Black MD is the best. October can't come soon enough....

I recently discovered the french fries. Not all Sheetz have them, but man are they great. And I'm sure they're good for you too.

What is the deal with that coke blak stuff? And what si with all these brands adding stupid flavors to their drinks?

One of the few instances of this I've actually enjoyed is the Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper... I could drink that all day.

My fave. Dew is still Code Red... I enjoy the others though.

Those sound great. Know of any importers?

There's a Latino grocery around the corner in the Strip here that sells bottled coke, I think it is of the Mexican persuasion. Doesn't help the out of towners, though.

On another note, I think I may try carbonating some iced coffee and make my own coke blak. If it's good I may put it on the menu. My wife's going to kill me.

Coke's problem

Postby relantel on Mon Apr 24, 2006 2:21 pm

is not sticking to one variety that works (Coke->Classic Coke family), and continually trying to add new twists that are busts. New Coke. C2. Coke Zero, Vanilla, etc.

I used to pound 6-8 cans of regular coke a day, half as protest in PSU going Pepsi only in 1992, and half being the sugar/caffeine addiction. Finally managed to swap over to caffeine free coke some four years ago, and after several months with that, transitioned over to water. But I still on occaision (maybe 3-4 times a month) will have a regular coke. Can't do diet, just doesnt work. But then again, been addicted to sweet tea these last couple years, probably more sugar than coke.

Has anyone tried that Dr. Pepper Berry Creme concoction?

I had a few people tell me it was "interesting". Not sure whether that means "good" or not.
