Its been 8-9 years with sales declining and a pretty good saturation of the market with today's consoles. In fact, its the longest time between generations ever.

Second note, just recently Sony (I think it was 77 million consoles) passed Microsoft (76 million) in sales. Impressive really.

Right now only the Steam Box interests me, Ps4 doesn't and 720 (not the game) doesn't either

Just curious, but why is that impressive? Assuming accurate numbers, it's pretty much a given at 8-9 years that current consoles have past their prime. At best, it pretty much a draw at this point, isn't it? They've both sold well, they both accomplish the job (entertainment). Why is it impressive that eight years laters one console overtakes the other? I don't think this point was the ultimate goal when this generation of consoles was created.

Its impressive at the late surge the PS3 had. It was almost deemed a failure due to its low launch sales and low sales for the first few years or so. In the years following through good marketing and the system's price drop it was able to eventually catch up to the XBOX and even out the numbers. Even though it should be a draw and Sony should be upset about the launch, over time they were capable of righting the ship and again have a competitive market share. That is impressive.

Reliability will be one of the biggest selling features to those that are on the fence between systems. If both systems maintain high levels of quality while minimizing system failure resulting in the need to replace then we could have a very entertaining sales race.

I don't really have any desire to upgrade at this point... but I haven't quite had my PS3 for 2 years yet either.

And note that the X360 had about a 1 year headstart on sales over PS3, and that the PS3 first surpassed the X360 in quarterly sales in early 2010.

IMO, It amazes me PS3 took this long to pass Xbox360 based on the BluRay player alone. I know many people who, back in the day, just got a PS3 for the bluray player and really don't game at all.

SimCity had another closed beta this weekend, to load test the servers, so it was a 24 hour beta.

Very enjoyable, can't wait for the game to drop March 5th. Anyone else getting it?

Picked up Dead Space 3, Hitman: Absolution, and Resident Evil 6(was 20$). Pretty much broke even on trades since Gamestop was running an extra 50% trade in on all games. Should keep me busy for a while.

Agree. I finished up Witcher 2 a week ago and started Far Cry 3. Ton of fun so far. Sneaking is great, but so is blasting away.

Crysis 3 is kind of amazing so far. The textures and graphical fidelity are fantastic, and the gameplay harks back to the original in the series.

I'm playing ocarina of time. On Saturday, I went from just having finished Dodongo's Cavern through to arriving at the Forest Temple. I apparently did this without saving, as I went to play last night before the Pens game and was back without the Boomerang. I was not happy. I am now about to go to the Temple of Time to grow up, so mostly caught up.
