Got a flight at Beer Market last night, and I had Elliot Ness, Arrogant Bastard, Wells Banana Bread, and some random beer that I can not remember. The 3 I named were pretty good.

Yeah, definitely going to try to find multiple types of Weihenstephaner and Franziskaner. Definitely want to try the Koribinan columbia posted a few months back, plus a dunkel or two.

Elliot Ness is probably one of the best draft lagers that you can find almost everywhere... best thing Cleveland has ever produced. :fist:

I really enjoyed the taste. Couldn't tell you a damn thing about beer (I do not really care to dissect why something is good) but I would definitely enjoy having it again.

If you already are a fan of quads and haven't had it yet you will undoubtedly be a fan.

I'm generally not a tripel/quad fan, but i will steal from children to get a Rochefort 10. So complex and potent, but smoov. A definite treat beer for me.

man...complex is an understatement. so much stuff going on in this beer. part of me says i prefer the simplicity of a st bernardus, but i don't know...this rochefort was something else. so freaking smooth, too.

Yeah, Eliot Ness is good. Love that the chocolatey-roasty taste comes after the hop.

Speakeasy Brewery Tallulah Extra Pale Ale.

Not bad. Smooth. Not over powering. Probably would be great for a hot summers day.

I'll try to remember the beers from last night (all on tap):
Stone IPA
Long Trail Maple Maibock
Southern Tier x2 milk stout
Pumking
Great Divide Dunkel Weiss
Founders all day IPA

The Maple Maibock was the surprise of the night. Quite enjoyable.

Yesterday we hit the Outer Banks Brewing Station. I got a flight of 4 of their beers.

Olsch - This was pretty bad. I drank it because it was there, but I would never drink it again.
Lemongrass Wheat - This was decent. However, it got worse as I went along for some reason.
Integalactic IPA - This was an explosion of galaxy hops, apparently. It was my favorite of the 4. Solid IPA. Kind of piney, but went down fairly smooth.
Captain's Porter - just a solid porter. Actually went very well with the hushpuppies for some reason.

I may or may not have met mr and mrs shad there. :pop:

I plan on saying a bit more about some of the beers I tried last week when I get a chance... tried a ridiculous number of hefes, wits and more.

Found a 4 pack of Dragon's Milk.

All I gotta say after two swigs is: holy ****. Really sweet, and you can definitely taste the bourbon. I can see why they only sold it in 4 packs.

Addendum: holy hell this is strong.

Currently drinking a Founders Dirty Bastard. This is a good scot ale. Not sure if I like it more than Old Chubb, but it's tasty. Strong as hell too. 8.5 I iirc.

The more I drink of this Dragon's Milk, the less of a fan I am. That bourbon gets to the point where it overpowers the stout.

That's my general prob with the bourbon barrels. I just don't care for the liquor flavor in my stout.

I love this, but it's definitely a 12 or 22 ounce a night beer.

Trying to pick out a keg for a get together later in the month. This will be an all day affair starting early in the am for about 15 guys. Being that we are minutes from Southern Tier, I thought Phin & Matts was a good choice for all day drinking (other notables from ST: 422 and Hop Sun). What are some other suggestions of something decent that will be good for all day drinking?

are you committed to Southern Tier? Their Live stuff is good and very drinkable. If you could get your hands on a keg of Founder's All Day IPA, well the name speaks for itself.

You should try franziskaner or weihenstephaner. Not that the troegs is a bad beer or anything... But if you are going with that style of beer, those are the best two.

I thought I was the only one with that problem. I have a few friends who would drink nothing by Dragon's milk if they could. I can have one and then the bourbon flovor just overpowers everything

Will there be beer drinking games involved? If yes, I'd stick to something lighter and less filling.

Had Duck/Rabbit Amber at the place beside the Beer Market yesterday. Checked the ratings on beeradvocate and ratebeer after I drank it. One loved it and had it in the 90s, while the other only had it in the upper 70s. It's probably one of the smoother ambers that I've had in along time.
