Is it ever too early on vacation? I think not.

He says, "no bro, thats the born on date", to which I reply "well it appears someone has come from the future and placed the duck rabbit porter there as it says 07 12 13" He then said I could buy the case and return it if it's bad.

Would that be to far past to even consider that or would the shelf life still be OK? I'd rather just get a fresh case, but he made a big deal about getting another in.

Do you remember where that duck rabbit Amber was and how much did it run you (if you bought it)?

Be careful with Duck Rabbit. I have read a lot about their beers being infected. I bought a 6 pack of Rabid Duck a few months ago and all of them so far have been infected. I emailed them and never heard anything back. I have generally had good experiences with their beers but I am not impressed with spending 12 bucks on a 6 pack of infected beer. I am going to try to email them again.

I choose the Old English then because I figure something bad is gonna happen, I might as well greet my maker with a tinge of glassy in the eyes.

This isn't my official answer, but it might be the best beer I've ever had (burp):

Don De Dieu was pretty amazing. I feel like one of the Unibroues would be a good choice given the flavor punch they deliver. That said, I don't think I could ever drink them in quantity.

Market District in Bethel has 22s of Pumking. You have to ask for it at the counter, when they ask if there's anything else you say Pumking to them. You can buy two. It's spectacular.

is Pumking really that hard to find out there? The local wegmans here has a huge set-up full of pumking. the past couple years they've had it available late into october in large quantities.

There're no Wegman's out here. I'm guessing they get a lot of it because of their NY roots. I don't know of anywhere out here that doesn't ration their supply, except for maybe Ho1Kb, but I'm not sure.

Hal's in the North Hills, for example, sells only two cases per day and limit of two and they're $12 a pop. The ones I got at Weg's in Erie were $6.99.

That said they are making more each year and the chore of finding it is a lot easier than it was even a couple years ago.

I went to the Shaler Giant Eagle for the first time this week, and they had no Pumking (although, I didn't ask at the counter). I picked up a 4-pack of Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale due to its high score on Beer Advocate. It's pretty good. I can't compare it to Pumking, since I actually haven't been able to find Pumking for 2-3 years and kind of forget what it tastes like :(

Had Pumking at the Hop House on Thursday night. It really is worth searching out...so good. I had 2...then a third. Wife and I hung out for a while after that before heading home...didn't get home til about 8pm. I actually ate nachos after dinner. Better safe than sorry.

We picked up a sixer of Fat Head's Oktoberfest. Pretty darn good IMO. Nothing special, but maybe a little better than I expected.

I love heavy beer, but something about pumking...I can only drink 11oz of it and that's it.

So I finally tried pumking today and while its the best pumpkin beer I've ever had (and to this point, I've never liked a pumkin beer) I don't know that I'd ever order it again. I don't get the craze for it.
