I love it. But I've never had more than one in one sitting, nor do I expect that I'd want more than one.

I don't think it does, but I could see some people finding the alcohol taste to be a bit over-powering. It doesn't "hide" its 10%ABV, put it that way.

I'd guess that how likely you are to enjoy scotch or bourbon straight up -- which I do, very much -- impacts whether you think the alcohol taste is overpowering in Dragon's Milk.

I didn't think Dragon's Milk lived up to its price point at all. It was good, but not THAT good.

It's more the "bourbon burn" than the alcohol. I can drink a Ten Fidy just fine. But I hate that burn from the Dragons Milk.

Do you like bourbon generally and if so, do you like it straight?

I've never really had bourbon outside of Dragons Milk. Can do whiskey straight, though (though I'm not sure that's similar to bourbon)

Interesting. I don't really notice a burn, but I'm not a bourbon drinker.

Another bourbon stout I really like is Dark Hollow. Brewed in Virginia.

Had the Fantome Saison tonight. Trying to use the beer buddy app to record my thoughts so I can keep track of things and not unnecessarily spend money in the future on something I forgot my thoughts on. Here's what I had to say on this one. Try it if you can.
Bottle gushes, pour quickly and slowly. Bottle holds two fingers head throughout.
A: Murky (prob from gushing) straw/amber. Guaranteed head, bubbles follow on the glass on each drink.
N: Strong fruitiness leads--strawberry sweetness. Yeast. Nearly smells like a tripel at first. Funk only in the very background. As it warms a strong bandaid smell can be found at times, still within the realm of what I enjoy in this department. There is what I'll call an astringent phenol aroma that can be found at times.
M: light side of medium. Prickly, with plenty of carbonation. Really on point for a saison.
T: Fruit (strawberries, peach, pear, passion) leads the way along with yeast. Pepper is there but faint. Not much in the way of grassiness. Not a completely dry finish, lingers a bit. What lingers is truly one of a kind for a saison. There is a smokiness that is seemingly exhale activated. Smoke, tobacco, peat, but perhaps most predominantly burnt rubber. As the burnt rubber lingers it begins to mimic funk in terms if where/how it hits the tongue. As it warms the phenols that become more notable in the nose are also present on the tongue. This warmer variation hits much closer to traditional barnyard funk and much farther from the fruity tripel opening, in fact it's nearly void of sweetness.
O: This is a wildly complex saison. The array of characteristics provide something to suit almost any saison fan, and the smoky burnt rubber quality is like nothing I've ever tasted.
The 2 year hunt for this one could threaten to boost the score, but it doesn't disappoint in its complexity and uniqueness. Not my favorite representation of the style since it's never too strong on pepper or dryness in the finish but worth pursuing nonetheless.

Kraftster, that might be the most adjectives in one description of anything. Like, a kaleidoscope mixed with LSD and flavor.

Bought a new hard- shelled suitcase. Packed very tight with bubble wrap wrapped bottles, clothes, and diapers. Checked at 47 lbs. put the last few bottles in my other suitcase double wrapped.

I had the Southern Hemisphere Harvest not too long ago, and I enjoyed it as well. Definitely a stronger offering as far as Sierra Nevada is concerned, but they did a really nice job with it.

Now you know dat.

The St. Bernadus was pretty good. Not excessively spiced for my taste and quite smooth.

Not only is 1554 good, but I totally love the "archeology beer" aspect of it.

I tend to prefer Belgian strong dark ales, myself. New Belgium 1554 is good, but I don't think we can get it around here. I can't really think of any others.
