Hope that the stomach bug has disappeared so I can enjoy the Ola Dubh 30 tonight.

I'm trying out Invocation for the first time. Good, but a little heavy in terms of the alcohol taste.

Let me know how that Mission tastes.

Me? I'm drinking Left Hand Brewings Nitro Milk Stoudt.

Can't say that I'm overly impressed.

had 3 beers so far today, not overly enthused about any of them.

Tried the Roundabout Heini's Cheer... just not for me, at all. Perhaps it was the bourbon from the barrel, not sure, but it just didn't work for me.
Ayinger Oktoberfest... meh. I've generally really liked their beers, but this was somewhat of a stinker.
Westmalle Dubbel... solid, but not earth shattering by any means. Certainly not worth what I paid for it.

I have a crap ton of wheat beers left so I think it's time to kick things up a notch.

Beer is not a lifelong commitment. Don't like the one you got now, go get another flavor.

I just wished that the West Coast had some of the same flavors that you all drink, review and enjoy.

Cheers and Happy New Years to the beer drinkers and lovers in this thread!

Just cracked the Schneider Weisse Tap 7 Original hefe.

This is a good hefeweizen. But I simply must comment on its appearance... this is brown. Very strange for a hefe... it's not dunkel weisse dark, but much much darker than what you'd expect in a hefe.

Will be interesting to contrast this against the Tap 4 Edel Weisse which is higher rated on BA.

Very good. Same mellow whisky notes as the 18. Great balance. Would go really well with some food, though I'm not entirely sure which. Cheetos is working now.

The more I drink this, I am thinking it somewhat reminds me of the Flying Dog In Heat Wheat... similar taste anyway.

Had a Founders Porter after the Ola Dubh. Detected more bitterness. Now on to Old Peculier. With Cheetos.

I got 3 cases of the stuff when we toured the brewery. Thought it was great at the time, then grew to not really care much for it. It's been the goto beer to hand out when guests come over, just about gone now

Raison d'être was was a good buy when there was nothing better on the shelves. A lot of beer stores carried it around here, so if I needed something in a pinch, that's what I'd get. But since I started buying cases of stuff from distributors now, I don't have a need for that beer anymore.

C2i, I know you go to vermont sometimes. If you're in the Burlington area try Farmhouse Tap and Grill. Great food and wide and varied selection of beers.

I do not, unfortunately. My sister lives in Vermont, and I've visited her once, but plan on going again this coming spring/summer. I'll definitely keep that in mind as she lives about 20 minutes north of Burlington.

On a different note, check out how cool Sierra Nevada's barley wine looks during fermentation:

Tried Leinenkugel's Dark Lager (it's in their winter sampler pack). Surprisingly good for a cheapish beer.

The Mission Dark Seas is my favorite high ABV beer. It's listed as a Russian Imperial Stout but it isn't bitter, tangy, or syrupy. Has coffee/chocolate notes and light brown lacing and foam/head with good carbonation.
