The shocking thing is that he hasn't gone to Indianapolis yet. You can't tell me there's no pitcher at Indy who would be better than the abject failure that is Oliver Perez. Whether it was Spin Williams's "coaching," Perez's disinterest in offseason conditioning, or something else, this guy's career is toast. He's lucky to hit 92 on a good day, and this is a guy who used to hit 98 routinely. He's shot. Time to move on.

Frankly, if that's the case, it shows the depth of his character (read: kids' wading pool). *If* - and I mean IF, because it's a pretty damning indictment - he's so unhappy about his team that he's willing to dog it and damage his own earning potential in the process, than good riddance. A cancer like that is something the Pirates do not need if they ever hope to achieve even mediocrity.

Perez is one of the few underperforming players on the roster that Tracy didn't mangle himself.

I'd keep him around for a while to see if Tracy or Colburn can get him to pitch worse.
