For Fast and Furious fans:
I have never seen any of the films. I love action flicks so I am willing to give the series a try. Should I watch all 6 or are there some I can skip without losing ANY of the story. Keep in mind that even if a movie is bad, if it contributes at all to an ongoing story line I am willing to sit through it.

You're better off reading those books as well.

wait...which one is Fast and Furious? Isnt that the first one? Or is The Fast and The Furious the first one? And if drift is an afterquel (copyright pending) do I even need to bother seeing it?

You can probably manage to just see 6 and still enjoy it I'm assuming.

I'm in the same boat as you, kind of. I had never really seen any of them until Fast Five, and I was able to decude enough important stuff about the characters from that one -- there are a couple flashbacks and they talk about characters' past. Plus it looks like F & F 6 is more of a direct sequel to 5, and considering 5 is a solid flick, I'd just start there.

Also, I believe all the other F&F movies were more "racing" oriented than they were all-out action, like Fast Five was.

And also again, I saw about the first 10-15 minutes or so of Drift and am convinced it's among the worst modern movies of all time.

There isn't really a story connecting movies...the only thing is that some relationships are established in certain movies and therefore people already know each other in the future movies.

Tokyo Drift is completely unrelated to the other movies.

Yeah, i'm like you though, I must watch things in order. I actually didn't hate Drift that much, but it is basically a movie that had racing involved so they slapped the F&F tag on it.

Yeah, Fast 5 was a great dumb action movie. They aren't just car porn like the first few movies were.

I'm hoping to see it this weekend as well, but I think the stupid trip to Pittsburgh for the Eastern Conference Finals is going to get in the way. :pop:

So was the new Star Trek supposed to be a bizzaro rehash of recycled, threadbare plots that somehow manages to be less than the sum of its parts?

If so, 10/10.

Did you like Star Trek prior to the new movies?

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was on a few times this weekend. Exactly which part of a middle aged Adam Sandler playing a macho womanizing firefighter who sleeps with a plethora of hot women am I supposed to find believable?

The same part as him and the other guy needing to be gay lovers. It's a movie.

Anyone ever see Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade? Its kind of like a companion piece to King of Kong, having been made around the same time.

Finally going to see Star Trek 2 today.

Also, on the subject of World War Z, I completely agree. It's a shame that Brad Pitt's company bought the rights to the book only to produce a movie that does not resemble it's source text at all. That book deserves so much better.
