this theory was in a Cracked.com video from like 6 months ago. someone owes Dan O'Brien a check.

Went and saw this at the drive in the other night. Favorite of all time may be stretching it a bit, but was really enjoyable. Then again it could've been sitting outside with friends drinking beer that made everything more enjoyable. It'll definitely be worth a rental when it comes out

I saw Atlantic Rim on Netflix. I didn't watch it, but I saw the preview. I couldn't tell that it was a farce while watching that preview, it just looked like the same movie.

Was it by The Asylum? You may know their other films: The Transmorphers, Snakes on a Train, Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, The DaVinci Treasure and so on. And of course my personal favorite: Titanic II.

a lot of netflix. 3 at a time. plan it for release days. I have small issues like this.

wifey thinks it's going to be too creepy, sticking to twin peaks again (not sure her logic on this?)

I haven't seen it, but the trailers for Pacific Rim make it look a whole lot like an Americanized live-action version of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Has anyone who has seen it also seen NGE, and if so, can you comment on the comparison? Based on the trailers and some reviews, they sure seem to carry a lot of common characteristics:
- Human-made large robots fighting large monsters.
- The human pilots in NGE are mentally linked to their craft (which in NGE are actually organic, not robots) and have to deal with emotional trauma. In PR, the two pilots are linked to each other.
- Dramatic tension between leading male and female pilot.

Stylistically, a bunch of the stuff in the PR trailer looks exactly like NGE. In particular, there’s an in-the-water fight that looks like the NGE battle against the sixth angel Gaghiel, and the fight at night in the midst of a crowded city looks like the first fight against the third angel Sachiel.

I'm not familiar with NGE, but i have heard that Pacific Rim is heavily inspired by it.

I like Bridges, can't stand Reynolds. I think it ends up flopping.

It will probably be OK, and will definitely flop. It just doesn't look that good, regardless of the cast.

Yes it was. I'm convinced that its basically a remake of Pacific, with it being intentionally bad and Pacific being unintentionally bad, but both being the same movie with different cast members.
