If zack & miri was funny, it was because the actors were able to salvage a pretty turdy script.

Clerks and Mallrats are decent time pieces. I think some of the diehards say that chasing amy is his best...i've never seen it. But everything he's done since maxes out at ok (dogma stands out as "ok").

I think there are probably a few parts of Zack and Miri that I liked, but the only one I really remember is when the Steelers guy walks in hammered. I quote that guy a fair amount during football season.

Dogma is the pinnacle for me. Clerks and Mallrats are fine.

Yeah, "Huck it, chuck it, football!" is thrown around a lot during my hockey games.

Chasing Amy is his best script, by far.

he produces the most contrived dialogue out of any legit screen writer out there. it's not always a bad thing. it worked well with lo-fi stuff like clerks and mallrats. but when he started making more polished productions like clerks 2 and zack & miri, there's a big disconnect between the script and the rest of the execution.

.......I like Kevin Smith better in other people's movies. I've seen every movie listed here of his, and can't come up with any dialogue, scenes, or anything. I thought they were all ordinary, and I tried to see what everyone was telling me, but they're nothing more to me than ambient noise when I have other things to do around the house.

My wife and I took the kids to Turbo over the weekend. We enjoyed a nap ($2.00 theater), but the kids loved it FWIW.

It started off slowly (snails you know), and used every cliche in the book for an underdog story. Great voice work from Paul Giamatti and Samuel Jackson.

Reviews of that movie were pretty bad, good to hear confirmation that critic reviews are worthless.

I like Smith. Not the greatest, but not bad either. I just think when he was at his peak was when I was in high school and college, and those movies stick with you.

Going to see Pacific Rim this weekend, I'd prefer to see it in 2d, but because of the times available looks like it's either in 3D or IMAX 3D at the Waterfront, for those that have seen it, will one be better than the other (I've never seen an IMAX there before)?

how is the IMAX setup at the waterfront? I believe I've read on here it's not a true IMAX. Is it a curved screen all around you (like at the science center) or is it just a regular screen but much bigger in front of you?

the curved screen around you is OMNIMAX. IMAX is on a flat screen.
