Kevin Smith love/hate is an age thing more than anything. I was a senior in high school when Clerks came out and I loved it. I liked Mallrats and Chasing Amy, but it's been downhill since for me. I thought Clerks II was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Try talking bad about it on Reddit and prepare to be downvoted into oblivion. They love it.

That makes sense, because he doesn't seem like someone who wants to embrace being over 25.

the conjuring is good. Not the scariest thing ever, but a solid film. Better than all the PA films.

What IS the scariest movie ever? I mean scary, not gory. I know Prince of Darkness still frightens me. Insidious is up there too. A lot of people say The Exorcist because of the time period in which is was released. That was a really scary movie for the 70s.

When I was a little kid I was scared by Salem's Lot and Cujo (and The Boogens). Haven't seen a movie in years and years that I actually thought was scary. I rarely even get a jump scare.

the are you afraid of the dark with the brother and sister who were playing in the abandoned factory and found that room with the aliens that wore the black masks and were trying to teach them telekinesis was the scariest thing

I have never thought the exorcist was scary. I don't understand why time period would affect that.

The Exorcist was the only movie that legit scared me when I watched it when I was younger. I still don't like watching it by myself at night and I'm 30.

The chest burster scene in Alien messed with me the first time too. That whole movie has such an awesome atmosphere, don't know if I would call it "scary", but yeah.

There are definitely movies that scare me but I can't remember what they were. I think thats some kind of coping mechanism. I'm weird though, I can watch something pretty horrifying and be fine and then watch some ghost tv show and then my mind starts wandering about scary stuff and I can't even look in the general direction of a window at night out of fear that something is there. :pop:

That creepy feeling when you watch something scary in your basement, and then have to shut off the lights at the bottom of the stairs before going up, because the switch at the top doesn't work.

Oh wait, that was my childhood.

If you have a basement with storage under the steps and there isn't a "back" to the steps, you're just sleeping downstairs with the lights on that night. :scared:

My townhouse is creepy too, because it's 3 floors, and the basement door is essentially on the underside of the stairs, so when I shut off the lights and am about to step on the first step, I always picture my basement door flying open and a terrifying old woman with a letter opener is gonna come running out and get me in the achilles because I just wasn't far enough up the stairs.
