Right. I'd prefer to see money go towards something that's not a blatant re-hash. My own selfish reasons, but whatever.

i think these crappy remakes only boost the quality of the originals. i don't have any problems with them.

I just don't feel like that money would be going to something worthwhile. This was greenlit because it was the best thing available at the time.

I see the same size market for a Vacation re-hashing as there was for a Lone Ranger re-hashing.

That and Blazing Saddles are my two favorite comedies of all time.

Office Space would probably be in my Top 5 along with Young Frankenstein.

(oddly, nothing with Will Ferrell or Zach Galifinakis makes my Top 20...)

I have a feeling Brooks wont ever let someone remake his stuff. It's the only reason I didn't mention Blazing Saddles in my post.

My top 3 comedies of all time:
1) Blazing Saddles
2) Young Frankenstein
3) Caddyshack

There are recent movies that i'd put in my top 10. I think people get really enamoured with movies from the 80s or so that were really funny, but it wasn't some golden age. I can think of as many great comedies form the 90s as I can from the 70s and 80s and I don't think that will change in 10 years when we look back to the 2000s.

The first Austin Powers movie is my favorite comedy...of all time
I feel the same way about the AP trilogy as I do the Matrix trilogy.

One of the few instances where a true sequel is better than the original.

I didn't think all the Verne Troyer stuff was funny. I'm generally not a fan of physical comedy.

I think if you replace "best" with "safest" then you'd probably be right. But no point in beating this to the ground.

Eh. I love Young Frankenstein, but I also loved movies like Step Brothers and Zoolander. I don't think the two "styles," or what-have-you, have to be mutually exclusive when it comes to taste.

Movies like Blazing Saddles could never be made today. Everyone is way too PC.

Ed Helms and Christina Applegate in the lead roles.

Ugh, sounds bad already. Beverly D'Angelo was pretty sexy in the first Vacation movie. I don't see it with Christina Applegate. Not sure about Ed Helms in that role, Steve Carrel might be better.
