The answer is "Duel."

thats a little unfair comparison. Duel boasted a young, hungry speilberg working off of a richard matheson story. the aforementioned had made a masterpiece from a scrap heap

I'd like to throw Big Trouble in little China and Maximum Overdrive into the discussion.

I can't consider Big Trouble to be a trucker movie. The main character happens to be a trucker. That's all.

sounds like an interesting debate. I'd love to teach a college (elementary would probably be more beneficial/get em while their young) class on first and foremost, how Point Break/Road House can be applied in any life situation ever. And now this theory of BTiLC is not a trucker movie because Jack Burton (He was born ready) is just a trucker vs Over the Top being a trucker movie because Lincoln Hawk is a trucker. Please go on. This is a very serious accusation and I attend to put my full attention to it.

The only scenes in BTiLC that involve Burton driving a truck are the very beginning and very end. That's the entirety of his trucking in the movie. Stallone's character, on the other hand, drives a good deal across the country in his rig over the course of the film. I'm not sure I would classify Over the Top as a trucker movie either, it probably sits more as an arm wrestling movie (with a sappy father/son thing going on), but it is certainly more truckeresque than BTiLC.

Movies like Convoy and White Line Fever are real trucker movies.

True of False: Big Trouble in Little China's Jack Burton is Kurt Russells best character?

I can agree with you on Convoy. Kris Kristofferson is the man. I sadly admit that I have never seen White Line Fever, but will remedy that soon.

#1 reason BTiLC is a trucker movie, his truck is named "Pork Chop Express".

You got the false part right, but it's Captain Ron.

i dont take too kindly to your denigrations of the tragic father-son relationship in a very captivating, tug-at-the-heart-strings piece of cinema.

next, you're probably going to tell me that the tangled, dysfunctional web of the Woods family in The Wizard is just some kid and his quirky brother playing vidya games. this is a dangerous path you are heading down.

if kurt russell could harness the steely glare from his interpretation of Wyatt Earp, Mix it with the resourcefulness of Col. O'Neill, while having the charm of Captain Ron, he would be in line for an Oscar. ...i think its possible, but he just needs the vehicle for it to happen.

Captain Ron 2: the Stargate in the Wild West would be the working title.

would be straight cash homey.

I still don't know how he didn't receive an oscar for Captain Ron. Al Pacino plays some blind guy and wins an award? Come on, Ron Rico, that is a performance of a lifetime.

the courts have determined that your punishment is severe, yet fair:

you have been sentenced to watch: Cabin Boy

This whole discussion is great.

Captain Ron is amazing. Just listened to the intro theme song during work the other day when I needed a quick pick-me-up (the movie is on youtube in full).

Can't pick the best but Black Dog with Patrick Swayze and Meatloaf is certainly the worst trucker movie of all time
