Trailer for a documentary chronicling the failed Nicholas Cage Superman movie. I always find stories about the production of movies (and failed movies) intriguing, so this looks interesting to me. The movie was pretty far along in pre-production before it got scrapped. Kevin Smith tells an excellent story about his time writing the script for the movie and dealing with producer Jon Peters who demanded a giant villainous spider at the end of the movie (which he finally got in Wild Wild West). Based on the trailer for the documentary it looks like they turned Brainiac into a giant spider to meet his demand.

There's also gems like this:

I'm looking forward to getting home tonight and checking out that Superman Lives trailer. That movie would've sure been something else. I've read before too about cynical the Warner Bros people were - focus testing potential toys and cramming them into the film.

I was at Eides recently and saw a few early 90s Batman toys I had down in the basement. They were part of the Batman Returns movie themed set, but obviously had nothing to do witht the film:

I think thats the way to expand the marketing presence of a film. They've figured it out with the video games - forget about trying to make a movie adaption of a video game since they're always awful. Try to create the best game you can with broadly similar ideas and release it around the hype of a movie (like Arkham Asylum). You didn't actually need him in that ridiculous yellow suit in the movie. By Batman and Robin they were actually putting that crap into the film:

Thats exactly what a late 90s Superman movie wouldve looked like. Along with Godzilla 98's bad and overused CGI.

Additionally Warner allegedly wanted Will Smith to play Superman, but he turned them down on fears of how his race would be viewed.

In light of the backlash against Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm in the coming Fantastic Four movie, and rumors suggesting Idris Elba as a possible James Bond, is it ok for famous characters to be played by people of different races?

Edit: Found my answer. It is a photoshop, but a completely awesome one since that's basically how I have envisioned the suit since the first picture was released.

I see no reason why race would be an issue. It's not like James Bond's whiteness was such an integral part of what made him a badass spy. Unless there is something intrinsic to the character that is tied to their race, to me it's no different than actors playing other nationalities.

But we certainly don't want to go down the Lincoln Osiris path.

Dennis and Mac playing Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon remake on Sunny was prit-near Oscar material.

Riddle me this; how does the normal Shredder live through a trash compactor in the first TMNT movie, but a super Shredder can't live through a pier collapse in the second?
